Everything was great but when we check in the room we realized that the trash was never taken out from the pervious guest. The trash was pretty full.

My stay at The Granger has been an amazing experience from the moment I walked in (they have security, so I feel very safe as I travel alone!) all the way to check out. Not only is the hotel designed so gorgeously but the staff has been so friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Thank you to the Granger staff and sister hotels for being the bestest! I have found my long term home away from home in SD, I can't wait until all the amenities are open!

Stayed in October 24, this is a new or refreshed property so everything was clean and very up to date. Bed was very comfortable on the softer side. Bar isn’t really a bar but staff was very friendly! Only down side is that is very loud at night, lots of shouting all night long on the Broadway corner, maybe a higher floor would have been better as i was on the second!

This place was great, and I really loved the furnishings and decor. That said, I’m not sure I’d stay in this location again. It’s right in the heart of Gaslamp with plenty of bars and dining options, but it was surprisingly quiet during the weekdays. As a solo woman traveling alone, I didn’t feel entirely safe walking around at night or early in the mornings. If you’re heading toward the waterfront on Broadway, though, it’s fine.

Staff was super nice and professional. they addressed any issues or questions quickly. Expedia had listing as “sleeps 3 “ but it was only a king, they got us a room with 2 beds right away. Rooms are small but adequate for a couple of adults and super clean. very original decor throughout hotel. Quite a few homeless people around outside but we still felt safe. Lots of night life but rooms are still quiet.

Bed horribly soft, crappy foam pillows, no phone to front desk, pool and gym 2 blocks away, bar is a complete joke, situated right behind the checkin counter, thermostat in room did not work… toasted at 75 degrees all night! Parking is ATROCIOUS!!! This “hotel” should get real and realize it is nothing more than a youth hostel at best, a complete disaster to my birthday weekend! Fool me once, shame on you!!! WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!!

Our stay was great! The hotel is beautiful and all the staff were super friendly. The location is perfect since it’s not in the middle of bars and restaurants, so it’s quiet; but close to good attractions. We definitely recommend it and we’ll go back for sure!

I booked this hotel expecting amenities like a bar/lounge, spa, and private dining, only to find out it had none. Upon asking, I was told they had a liquor cabinet behind the check-in desk with bourbon and whiskey, but no real bar. The "spa" is actually a gym two blocks away, which is very inconvenient. Food? Non-existent, unless you count morning muffins. Expedia reached out and they admitted to listing these amenities to "seem like other upscale properties." Massive letdown. No nearby parking, either. On the positive side, the staff was great. However, they wouldn't let me cancel my reservation. $750 for two nights with nothing but AC? Ridiculous. The room window was cracked and painted shut, letting in all the noise from sirens. The hotel was clean, but the rooms were tiny. Avoid this place unless you enjoy wasting money. ***1 star***

I liked the bed and the Supermarket Sweep channel. It’s a bit far to Petco Park but still walkable. If you have a show at House of Blues or the Balboa Theater it is closer to those venues.

The worst. We left in the middle of the night. Decor and soap caddy falling off the walls. Why are these things being held up by double sided tape? No ice machine. Tv on the wall is crooked, angled up. Weird. Some guests were walked to their room. Some were just given the key card and say it’s room 516. For the price. Not worth it at all. Terrible.

This place is a newly transformed hotel from such long history since 1904. I was not aware of such rich history prior our booking. But I am glad we did stay here. It sits in a prime location close to great restaurants. (The Istanbul restaurant is highly recommended) They have very friendly staff The interior plants are a different look- some may not like it but my wife loved it The last visit we had- we stayed at Westin just closeby and during Pandemic when everything was still very much closed. This experience is much better. Parking is offsite but I asked the concierge prior to arrival so they gave me a great recommendation for parking this is closest and cheapest. 20$ overnight which I feel reasonable complared to SF or LA. Overall this is a must recommendation for stay in the SD area.
