Convenient Stay Near San Antonio Attractions, With a Few Quirks
Overall, this place is great if you want a convenient spot close to San Antonio's main attractions (River Walk, Alamo, Market Square, etc.). Here are some details to help other travelers: The home is renovated but still older, so the floors and doors squeak. There are no curtains, and with many windows, it might be tricky if you have kids who need complete darkness to sleep. It seems they might be selling the place, which could explain the lack of curtains. We brought portable blackout curtains, but not enough for every window. The house does get a lot of natural light. There’s a distant train you can hear, but sound machines worked fine for us. Similarly, there’s a nearby dog, though its noise wasn’t bothersome with the sound machine. The casita is useful for extra space, but its bathroom foundation is slanted, making it a bit dizzying. We planned to have my grandfather stay there but worried he might fall at night. There are two showers in the main house, both upstairs. The pots and pans are basic, so bring cooking spray and your own seasonings; salt and pepper are provided. The property has plenty of room for everyone, and the main area is great for cooking and hanging out. As I mentioned, it’s close to everything, so it works well as a basic place to stay. Just keep in mind, the neighborhood you drive through may look older and a bit rough, but it felt safe. There’s also a nice short trail nearby with modern apartments, coffee shop, restaurant you can walk to.

Need new mattress
My husband and I stood in the casita. My biggest problem was the first night we did not have air conditioner. But was extremely grateful that it was repaired quickly

Good Location
The property was great for our large family. Clean and laid out well. Our only negative was the lack of amenities: no tissues, no dish towels, no ice. The toilet paper and the paper towels were cheap and coarse. Otherwise, fabulous find!

Good location
Location was good for downtown/River Walk and the Missions. Master bath being worked on and was to be finished on our second day, but was not. Some dogs in the neighborhood that barked at night. Second night noticed sound of frequent trains in early morning. Kitchen was well supplied. Everyone stated beds were comfortable. Nice outside spaces (although back space was covered by leaves due to the time of year). Only a half bath downstairs, so if you have an elderly member they will have to go upstairs for bath/shower. Casita had several up steps/down steps into various areas which you need to be aware of. Some light switches are in odd places, meaning you sometimes have to walk into the room to another wall to get to a light switch for that room. Remodel was very nice, but just some of those simple things that could have been better thought out. We probably would not stay here again as a group.

Disappointing Stay
While in some ways the home is charming and it was clean, in other ways it was a very disappointing stay, for the amount charged. The bottom line was the air conditioning was not working properly and so the home was very warm and humid, given this was San Antonio, Texas. The ceiling fan and light in the master bedroom also did not operate, which made the bedroom very warm, dark and with no circulation, and a number of windows did not open (safety isssue??) Upon arrival we also had a plugged toilet (not from our doing), which I eventually cleared. Upon contacting the management company, someone was to come out on Friday - they never showed, and I was even told the AC person was finishing up a job and would call me. We were in town as a family for a wedding, so needless to say, this was not what we were expecting. This rental was ultimately handled by Vacasa - I would avoid them totally. Their customer service is terrible, and NO resolution with regard to my request for a refund of the partial cost. AVOID THIS HOUSE.

Clean property in a good location but…
The property was nice and clean for older construction and in a good Location. Everyone complained about the mattress toppers being too soft and uncomfortable. There were no kitchen towels or bath rugs and there was not enough towels for a property that is supposed to accommodate 16 people. We had 7 adults and four Kids for four days. There was also not enough silverware and plates for large groups.

Great property!
The house was really awesomely decorated! Lots of space inside and outside and super close to the River Walk! Everything was really clean as well and property manager was always readily available to ask anything. The only two downsides were that the downstairs was much colder than upstairs and only one thermostat to control the temp and at night the trains passing were very loud.

Frustrating
While it is clean and the common areas are spacious, calling it 'well equipped,' as a previous review did, is a bit of a reach. We've always enjoyed our VRBO stays, but this one was as close to bare bones as it gets. There was barely enough toilet paper to get through the first day; one dish towel in the big kitchen, none in the casita (and no paper towels there, either); more plug-in appliances than three families could use but few pots and pans in the main kitchen and none in the casita...makes it difficult to feed 7 adults. There is no smoke detector in the casita...is that even legal? No bath mats in any of the bathrooms with showers/tubs, and the shower in the master suite was very slippery. The casita bathroom slants and there was standing water behind the toilet when we arrived. There was one set of door keys for three families and two cars going in different directions. We had an extra set made and left it behind with the originals. The biggest thing was that there was no book that is prominent in most VRBO properties with instructions, places to see, restaurants in the area, stuff like that. None of us had Roku at home, and there was nothing anywhere to tell us how it worked. We never did figure out how to find the local network stations. I would have traded all their fancy-but-useless knick knacks for a page on the tv. So it was a frustrating few days. We enjoyed San Antonio...and this place is close to everything...but I'll never rent from this outfit again. I never felt particularly welcome and any communication we got from the rental company was just a boilerplate email.

Great house for large families
The check in was easy. Was also able to use Vacasa app with the house for details. The house had a great open concept layout. The kitchen was fully stocked, they had so many appliances that would meet anyone's needs. The decor has such a San Antonio feel, we loved the details you took to design this location. The beds were so comfortable and for a family of 12 we fot perfect. It was so open that no one ever felt crowned. The added bonus....the Casita in the back. It was perfect for our family members that needed a little quiet time for a bit. The house had many amenities we had everything we needed. Plenty of extra supplies. I could go on and on. HEB was about an 8 min drive. The Riverwalk was no more than 5 min drive. About 30 mins from New Braunfels (we came tubing) It was a great house, if you are considering renting you'll enjoy it. Glenn took care of all my questions I had on the house. Thanks for taking care of us.
