Beautiful views, affordable, close walk to beaches, quiet location. As expected. Could have been cleaner and less "clutter" around the house. But overall great experience and relaxing vacation

Huge potential but lots of issues
We didn’t have great service and between the gps and mailboxes in weird spots it took a bit to find. The only way to get into the house are stairs that are definitely not up to code. The view from the deck is amazing! The furniture was plentiful for our whole group to sit out and enjoy. The house has a strong musky odor which I didn’t think much of until the mice came out. We own a farm and deal with mice but have taken measures to eliminate them from living with us. You could hear them running around the bedroom at night. They came out and ran across the floor while people were around several times. They were living under or in the cabinets. All the cooking supplies were located in these. Therefor before we could cook we had to sanitize and wash the fecal and urine matter off pots and pans. Again, I understand having mice in rural areas, but this amount needs to be addressed. We had no hot water the first night. The problem was fixed after we found the breaker box. The fridge froze produce no matter what it was set to. We lost everything. The bedding is aged. Pillows were heavily stained. There were dishes in the dishwasher that we needed to unload before we could eat. There are a whole ton of family photos. They have a beautiful family but we were familiar with the whole bloodline by the end of our stay. So much potential! House and view is beautiful. Current price with issues isn’t worth it. This is the first negative review I’ve ever left.

The cabin itself is beautiful. Great location, close to the water, and lots of space. Pros: Great location Quiet at night Hot tub and view were wonderful Kitchen fully stocked Locking gate Lots of space Walking distance to the lake Cons: SO many family pictures. The main bedroom on the main floor has a massive canvas family picture. Really weird going to sleep with someone’s family staring at you. The games room is nice, but it is FULL of family photos, scrapbooks, and personal items. My children didn’t even want to go down there, as they said it felt like they were intruding. Master bedroom has some weird microphone looking thing coming out of a locked closet door. We weren’t sure what it was, so we pushed it under the door. (We took a picture) The dishwasher had dishes in it. We were unsure if they were clean or not, so we had to rewash them. The dryer had towels and men’s underwear in it. I feel like that speaks for itself. One of the upstairs bedrooms looks like it had spilled candle wax on the floor. Overall it was a nice place to stay, but the cleanliness needed to be looked at. No guest should have to deal with someone else’s underwear, ever. The owners should really reconsider the amount of personal pictures around the home, as they do make people feel uncomfortable.

Everything we were looking for!
We spent a fabulous week here. The property is a bit remote but worth it once your there. Beautiful views and beaches. Lots to do in the cabin too, from the hot tub, pool table and plenty of games.

Beautiful view, but needs cleaning
We arrived late at night and lights were on with doors unlocked. Unsure if someone was in the home because crumbs were in the kitchen and toilet was dirty. Stepped in dog poop while unloading our vehicles. Went to put the kids to bed and the bed spreads were full of bugs and dog hair. We washed our bedding and woke up to a beautiful view of the lake. Very nice home with a wonderful hot tub, but it needed some major cleaning inside and out.

Good stay
Good stay, great property has great potential. Some issues, broken hot tub but was repaired by end of second day. Broken toilet was not repaired during stay but since we were 4 tradesmen we could get it to work temporarily without parts. A tad uncomfortable with the personal decor with family pictures and achievements everywhere. Off the beaten path but that was a good thing. All in all good stay would do it again. Very large place can hold and accommodate big groups.

Great House, Cold Showers
This cabin is big, spacious, and beautiful with a great view of the lake. Beds were comfortable. Window A/C units upstairs made it possible to sleep. Otherwise the house was really hot most of the time. Basement game room was awesome. On the flip-side, there were 8 people in our group and we all took ice cold showers for 7 days. After all fees and taxes, we paid a significant amount per night to stay here and couldn’t get a decent shower. The hot water would come out of the shower scorching hot for about 2 seconds and then ice cold. I had to resort to washing my 5 year old daughter's hair over the kitchen sink because it was torture putting her in a cold shower. Additionally, the kitchen had one filthy sponge, a filthy scrub brush and no dish soap. That was a problem because 1) the only pots and pans available were old cast iron and everything we cooked stuck to it so they had to be soaked and hand washed, and 2) the dishwasher left grime and soap on the dishes so almost everything coming out of the dishwasher needed to be rinsed or scrubbed again. I expected more for my money. I don't think I would stay here again unless some of these issues are addressed.

Cabin in the woods
We had a great stay at this cabin. We had 10 people with 6 adults and 4 kids. The house was comfy and fit everyone well. The beds were comfortable. The view of the lake was absolutely stunning. It was a bit of drive to get there but beautiful to drive. I only had a couple of issues of note: When we got there it wasn’t clear how to turn the heat on. There was a wood burning fire place and plenty of wood but no fire starters and the ash bucket was completely full. Once we found a hatchet outside we were able to chip the fire wood into small pieces to help start the fire and emptied out the ash bucket. Also the toilet downstairs was difficult to flush so we ended up all using the upstairs toilet. Lastly, there was no shampoo/conditioner/soap in the bathrooms. This was a bit annoying because we ended up buying some. Overall I would stay here again. Although would love to see it in the summer time!

Peaceful setting
This property was charming and extremely spacious. The wrap around deck was inviting and the perfect place to enjoy that early morning cup of coffee or the evening stars. One of our guests was able to log in to his college class remotely thanks for the wifi availability and attended class perched in his favorite chair on the deck!

Overall Stay
The house was nice but no A/C and the upstairs gets REALLY HOT. There were 2 small fans provided but 1 didn't work. Please get more fans for upstairs! Also, there were no ice chests or camp chairs to borrow so we had to buy our own (which we left there since we only needed for the week). Internet RARELY worked. I will have to say John was awesome and so was Meg. We really appreciate how quick they were to respond to our concerns.

Great Lake View!
This was a pretty nice mountain cabin. It had a very well stocked kitchen with most everything you would need to cook your meals. You will have to use the kitchen as it is pretty far to get food (about 15 minutes to 95). Well appointed with shower stuff and soap, Dishwasher pods and paper towels, Coffee pot and coffee, beach towels and bathing towels, super sharp knife set, Washer/Dryer, Pretty much everything you need. The beds were also surprisingly comfortable as well. We Used the Weber gas grill every night (watch out, it gets hot fast!) Downstairs has a huge TV that is Satellite ready so you have Music and TV from it which is good because the WIFI is spotty. (but you go there to unplug, right?) You will love the hot tub that is kind of an infinity tub to look over the lake. Above the hot tub is a huge wrap-around deck that has a lot of surprisingly comfortable seating. There are 2 fire options, the outdoor gas fire pit on the deck and the wood fire pit in the parking area (there was a ton of wood around back for the fire pit!). There is also a wood stove for those rainy nights. Here are a couple of things to take note of though: 1) The property is not on the lake as I thought (my wife knew it wasn't apparently). Beautiful view of the lake but it is still down the road a little ways and then you can put in a kayak or paddle board in the park area with a lot of other people (4th of July). 2) There are a lot of stairs, don't rent this if you have older people with you, 24 steps to get in to the first level and another (steep) dozen to the upstairs level. 3) No blinds in the house, well a couple. The sunrise in the summer is 4:30 a.m. so that is when you get up unless you can fashion a window covering for the morning sun. Shepherds lake is close with a little loop trail that is a mile maybe. Cafe 95 had a pretty good menu as the closest food and the drive thru Java Bear was convenient. We rented a boat from Martina at "A day on the Lake" in Bottle Bay (super painless). There was also a cool little bar next to the dock called "The Loaf and Ladle" that was excellent. All in all we enjoyed the Candon Family Cabin. John, the property manager, was in constant contact for our needs. Mainly texted each other after the first call. Thanks again for the memories!
