Our country house “the Mulberries” is situated 4km from Ronda. It can comfortably accommodate six adults and two children and boasts three bedrooms, two baths a living room and a kitchen. The house is situated on a plot of 3000 square metres and is surrounded by gardens and terraces. The house is fully equipped with air-conditioning, heating, Wifi internet and a music system. The garden features a swimming pool surrounded by lawns and a barbecue-area.

The house is an ideal place to relax in the middle of the countryside, yet only a few minutes by car from the centre of Ronda- a lively centre of culture, business and leisure with a stunning old town, rich history and unforgettable scenery.

The house is situated on one of the most famous hiking routes in the area which passes “el Cerro de Salinas” (the saline hill) and “el Llano de la Cruz” (the plain of the Cross”). This is just one of the many wonderful hiking routes around Ronda, an area of great beauty. Along the hiking routes there are various possible activities from excursions on foot or by bicycle and bird-watching through to adventure sports. You can also experience the various different types of viniculture and agriculture that are tradition in the region from vineyards and bodegas through to forestry and farming all of which are situated nearby.

During your stay at “the Mulberries”, you can experience the unique gastronomy of the region and the great local culinary tradition. In “el Llano de la Cruz” you can find various informal restaurants (ventas) where you can sample local specialities and regional favourites. Venta el Polvorilla prides itself on its “Conejo al Ajillo” and “Rabo de Toro” (Rabbit with garlic and Ox-tail), and at Venta el Pilistre you will find a wide selection of tapas and home-made dishes, the “Lengua en salsa” (tongue in tomato sauce) is a local favourite. Don’t forget to visit the surrounding villages which have a long tradition of artisan butchery, producing regional specialities such as local black-pudding, pâté, sausages, chorizo, cured meat, serrano ham, “zurrapa”- a local coarse pâté, smoked bacons, salted pork, “butifarras” (local sausage). The list goes on… These local delicacies can be bought directly from the producers and offer fantastic quality at low prices.

Absolutely stunning outdoor area
Despite us not speaking a word of Spanish and our host not speaking a word of English, we made it work and it was totally worth it. The indoor space was comfortable but the outdoor area was incredible - the pool, the views, the garden landscaping, the air conditioned pool house with bbq, kitchen and loo, the terrace outside the kitchen, the balcony on the first floor - we loved it all and will definitely return.

Spanish country retreat
The villa is spacious, comfortable, basic accomodation but well equiped and with a lovely private pool and garden to relax in. Plenty of private parking and a nice oputdoor eating area just outside the kitchen. The location is quiet with other similar villas along the access lane but apart from a few other people we didn't see or hear them at all. There are chickens and roosters nearby though who crow randomly and quite a few dogs barking and howling at times, although we didn't see them. Overall a lovely quiet country location a short drive to Arriate where there are some nice bars and restaraunts. Ronda is more like a 15 minute drive but veery nice and a must visit place. The local bar which is jus a 10 minute walk away was closed the whole time were there but would have been our regular place to eat and drink without driving. The local roads are single track but very little traffic so no problem. Overall, a lovely place to get away from it all comfortable and private. Juan, the owner, doesn't speak English but we communicated via Whatsapp and Google translate with no problem.

Amazing outside space, very peaceful and spacious.
A very relaxing location and house. The pool is a lovely size, and kept clean by Juan every couple of mornings(we were never up when he came so didn't see him). The outside space is what would bring us back in a heart beat. Childrens swing, pond, pool, hammock, loungers all set in mature trees and shrubs. Its a mini orchard of established trees, pear, plum, Sharon fruit, olive, grapes and quince! Chickens at the bottom of the garden and rabbits hopping around the pool made it feel very much in the middle of nature. Inside the property is nice and cool, and a very well equipped kitchen. Downsides were it's not perfectly clean, but of a reasonable standard, and only aircon in the pool room and master bedroom. That wouldn't stop us staying again! Juans didn't speak English but with some pointing we understood each other, and he passed us to his neice on the phone to relay any further messages when we checked in. There's 2 bars within walking distance but we didn't end up going as there was so much to try in Ronda (a 10 minute drive).

Grosses Haus, toller Pool, schöner Garten!
Wir (Familie mit zwei erwachsenen Söhnen) verbrachten im Juli zwei tolle Wochen in diesem Haus. Es war schön und warm, und wir genossen den genialen Pool in diesem schönen, riesigen Garten sehr. Insbesondere wenn wir von einem Klettersteig zurückkamen, freuten wir uns auf die Erfrischung im Pool. Der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter hat sehr gut geklappt (wir sprechen etwas Spanisch), Juan war sehr freundlich und hat uns trotz sehr später Stunde erwartet und das Wichtigste erklärt. Auch während unserem Aufenthalt reagierte er auf Anfragen sofort. Er pflegte auch den Pool gut und regelmässig. Haus, Garten und Pool trafen wir sehr sauber an. Uns gefiel die Privatsphäre von Haus und Garten sehr. Das Haus hat den Charme älterer Villen, ist gut unterhalten, liegt etwas ausserhalb, mit dem Auto ist man aber schnell in der schönen Stadt, im Einkaufszentrum oder auch in den Bergen. Im Gartenteich waren ein paar Fröschlein und während unserer Ferien besuchte uns regelmässig ein wilder iberischer Hase, der sogar etwas zutraulich wurde. Wir assen immer draussen, ab und zu benutzten wir auch das Pool-Haus, welches über eine Klimaanlage, Grill und Kühlschrank verfügt. Im Haus hat es im oberen Stockwerk eine Klimaanlage, die wir aber nur selten benötigten. Ansonsten sind die Fenster vergittert, so dass man bei geöffneten Fenstern schlafen kann. In der Küche hat es einen grossen, modernen Kühlschrank und einen elektrischen Herd mit Backofen. Das Warmwasser funktioniert mittels Gas, so dass immer Warmwasser zur Verfügung steht. Der Geschirrspüler ist schon etwas älter. Das Wifi hat sehr gut funktioniert, es reichte bei guter Platzierung sogar bis runter zum Pool! Wir haben sehr angenehme Ferien verbracht und würden das Haus jederzeit wieder buchen, sollten wir nochmal nach Ronda kommen. Insbesondere der tolle Pool im grossen, gepflegten Garten hat uns gefallen. Gracias Juan por alquiler esta casa con jardin y pool muy bonitos. Hemos pasado vacaciones perfectas. Muchas gracias.
