This is a hidden gem of a hotel. The hotel itself is lovely and our bungalow had 2 distinct bedrooms as advertised (not always the case with hotels), a lounge and outside seating area and dining table. As it was at the other end of the complex through the impressive plant nursery, we were provided with our own golf buggy to travel around the hotel grounds, which was an added bonus. The accommodation had its own private plunge pool to complement the hotel pool and the staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the fantastic looking menu at the hotel restaurant, as it too nice for young children but we did have lunch at the pool bar and utilised the room service menu, all of which were great. Breakfast is extensive and served in a beautiful garden. We would have loved to have longer at the hotel. Great views of Etna and there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Located conveniently just 40 mins from Catania airport, we would definitely go back. A real find.

The staff at Donna Carmela catered to our every need. The breakfast was amazing with lots to choose from. We had a delicious dinner outside among the gardens. The trees with little sparkling lights and soft music playing in the background make it very special. The rooms were large and very comfortable with all amenities you may need. I would definitely recommend it.

Great boutique hotel with fantastic restaurant
We stayed for four nights and were very sorry to leave. Room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean and the standard of housekeeping throughout was excellent. Service everywhere is friendly and efficient, and pool deck is great place to soak up the sun and admire the views of Etna and the sea. Dinners were fantastic, real problem in choosing between so many lovely dishes and great Sicilian wines.

Donna Carmela was hard to leave. Beautiful And enchanting hotel with a warm personable staff. Comfortable rooms with beautiful furniture. Lovely pool and breakfast area. And a very delicious buffet table. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. Must return soon.

We had a great stay at the Donna Carmela Resort. It's a beautiful property full with plenty of space and wonderful greenery. We were upgraded to a 2-floor room which allowed for space with our child. The pool is also wonderful and was very quiet while we were there. Breakfast was amazing, there is a huge table of Sicilian sweet treats to choose from, plus a small continental buffet and plenty of a la carte options. The resort is well-located between Catania and Taormina but the area itself around the hotel doesn't have much to offer, one really needs a car to get around.

The setting of this beautiful hotel is stunning, there are views of Mt Etna and the sea everywhere. The Hotel grounds are full of specimen trees and bushes from around the World, lush and gorgeous! We stayed in a Romantic Chalet that was so roomy and spacious and well furnished with glimpses of the sea through the foliage. Each long was so secluded and private. We had the added bonus of a private hot pool/spa outside on the deck outside our window. However it is the staff that take the Donna Carmela to the next level. From Housekeeping to Reception to the Waiting Staff & the Maitre'D every single one we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional!! We were here 11 nights and cannot fault our stay at all. We have stayed in hotels around the World but Donna Carmela rates among the finest! We have to mention our breakfasts as they were the highlight of the day. Scrumptious pastries and the best ruby red fresh orange juice everyday! A special mention has to go to Alania & Dese who served us and made our day with their smiles, & Linda who kept us topped with Tea & Coffee in our room! Nothing was too much trouble and we thank you so much!

A nice oasis close to the beach in Sicily. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the rooms extremely large and spacious. The hotel allowed an early check in and late check out which is always appreciated.

Absolutely loved it!
Spent two nights at the resort. Arrived late on check-in day due to a delayed flight and was welcomed warmly close to midnight. Great lunch suggestion provided and reservation made for us. Loved the ability to whatsapp guest relations. So quiet and the gardens were lovely. Service was some of the best we’ve experienced. Breakfast selection another big plus (loved the Sicilian options!)

Donna Carmela is a real gem and a must-stay property for anyone traveling to Sicily. It’s a beautiful resort set in a picturesque location with incredible amenities. We loved spending time by the pool, walking the grounds, and visiting nearby wineries for tastings. The staff at the resort are amazing. Aurora in particular was so kind and really went above and beyond to make our stay special. This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

I felt like I was staying at Signora Carmela's personal residence. Such a kind staff and peaceful property. I wish I had had more time to explore the area by bike and enjoy the pool, but the location is perfect for excursions to Mount Etna and day trips to Catania and Taormina. I hope to come back again soon!

It’s not it, far from it...
Me and my family stayed at this place for the last 3 days of our vacation. So I would like to differentiate a couple of things. The service from the reception, in terms of helping out with excursions/restaurants & what to do is fantastic. You can manage everything on WhatsApp with the hotel which is really nice but everything is else is more or less disappointing. I am referring to the amenities which is basic, the restaurant which is supposed to be gourmet acts like a “wanna be” Michelin but far from it and I have been to a lot of Michelin star restaurants in my life. So I do have experience there. The waiters are friendly but not more than that. We arrived to the hotel at 16:00 when check in is 14:00 and they said my room is not ready yet which is really frustrating and disappointing when you come after a long journey and all you want is to shower, change clothes and relax. The pool is ok, not large but with beds with “leather mattress” which is really old school. The room it self and we choose our own cottage with a garden has really bad air condition. We had it at he lowest 18degrees the entire time and still it wasn’t cold enough in today’s heat. The bathroom had rust on the sink etc. I paid more money for this place then Masseria della Volpe which is by far 10x better in from all perspectives, not comparable! Too make a long story short, I will not be returning here if I choose to vacay in Sicily again.

Donna Carmela is a unique and luxurious property. We absolutely loved it and were reluctant to leave. Having breakfast in the outdoor restaurant while looking at Mt Etna was just magic. Highly recommend this property.
