The hotel was overall OK. The check-in was OK. We arrived a bit earlier and were denied a room. The room was OK. The bed was a bit old and the mattresses was loose on one side. The checkout was a bit weird. We received a note the night before our checkout asking us to leave by noon (which we knew already). The morning of our checkout, quite early in the morning the cleaning personnel were slamming all doors around us and ironing the carpet just outside our door. We couldn't get much rest that morning and were pretty much forced to leave earlier. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.

Pros: Lovely room, nice and convenient location, excellent views. Cons: I stayed at the hotel for business. They have a team of people in reception watching your every move to make sure that you are rule abiding at all times, it wasn’t the most relaxing. They had nowhere for my colleagues to hold a virtual meeting, they sent us to the restaurant and the lady shouted at us in Portuguese to leave. I had to argue with reception to use my own suite that I had paid for because they don’t allow “guests to your room”. Eventually, we made progress and got special compensation to use my own suite, but missed some of our meeting. After the meeting I found 2 hotel staff members standing outside my hotel room door; they seemed to be monitoring the situation. They generally seemed to act more like hotel security than like they’re there to serve the paying guests.

The 5 melanated staff members (restaurant/concierge/bellhop) I interacted with during my one week stay, were respectful, attentive and always ready to assist in any way. The rest of the hotel staff was rude and dismissive. Couldn’t help but notice the difference in treatment based on your skin tone. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone that wants the full hotel experience. It’s good enough. Not great.
