Town - 4 miles south of Taos Plaza 22 miles to Taos Ski Valley and 22 miles to Angel Fire half way between both areas

“44a - Orchard Pommerale” is a treasure for relaxation, rejuvenation and experiencing the charm of an authentic historic southwestern adobe home. This property is ideal for a romantic wedding ceremony along the peaceful acequia. Upon arrival enjoy “Señor Murphy boxed chocolates” specialty chocolates along with 2 terry cotton bathrobes and disposable slippers in every bedroom. Guests may pick pears from the beautiful pear trees next to the house in the back yard of 44a. The property was a portion of the 1842 Serna Land Grant. In early years, situated along the Rio Chiquito Acequia (irrigation stream), this adobe home served as a fortress of protection against Comanche and Apache raids. There have been eight owners since 1842 and current owners are delighted to share this rare retreat with guests looking to rejuvenate mind, body and spirit among the serene acequia (irrigation stream), orchard with mountain views. A gourmet kitchen stocked with spices, vinegars and olive oil invite the avid chef to come equipped with favorite menus. In addition is a food processor, mandolin, blender, roasting pan, large crock pot and anything else a gourmet cook would desire! A personal chef can be provided upon request. A guest book contains recommendations for things to do in and around Taos for dining venues, shopping, spa treatments, and outdoor activities. The serene private environment is a lovely relaxing place to dine outdoors under the extra-large back yard “portal” (roof covered porch). In addition, a bright front courtyard, with upscale gas grill and market umbrella table, offers a second option for cooking, fun table games and more. A flat screen TV in both bedrooms plus separate TV den insures plenty of options for avid TV fans. To keep cool in the summer there are two A/C units. One in the middle bedroom and one in the west bedroom. Guests can cool down the house by keeping windows closed and utilizing fans throughout the house. Historically, many artists have enjoyed this location, including Leopold Stowkowski and art maven Mabel Dodge Luhan, who brought many artists to Taos. In addition to 3 indoor wood burning fireplaces, the front courtyard boasts a large romantic outdoor wood burning “kiva” fireplace. Firewood & starter are provided. To experience original romantic adobe architecture including all the comforts of home, plan to vacation at ”44a” and experience a truly authentic, well maintained historic adobe home.

Family Trip to Northern New Mexico
My large party stayed at this property for three nights. Ownership was very gracious in accommodating my large group which included very young children. The property was beautiful and well kept. The spacious home allowed for a family gather while also providing privacy for each subgroup. The Livingroom and dining area were spacious with plenty of seating to accommodate additional family members to come over to visit with each other in a single location. This is a rare occurrence for indoor space especially when the weather drove everyone inside. The kitchen supplies provided my party with every accessory that we needed or think of needing. We were able to cook for our party with no restrictions or inconveniences. The outdoor accommodations where very inviting and only the weather prevented us from spending more time outside. The front patio firepit was a fabulous touch, but could have used one in the backyard. The water feature was a very nice touch as was the view. The house had a hot tub but the weather altered our plans to use it. The abundance of fruit trees on the property where a hit with the kids and family. The neighbor even invited my family to pick fruit in his backyard and provided a history of the property and residential artwork. The check in and out process were simple and easy. As a first time VRBO user I didnt know what to expect but the property management and local support were helpful with all my questions. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Beautiful old adobe farmhouse
We have stayed in many many Vrbo but this was one of our favorites. Beautiful but comfortable eclectic decor with wonderful artwork throughout the home. Kitchen and bathrooms stocked with anything you could possibly need. Property caretaker was very available and made us feel welcome.

Great spring break stay in historic home
We highly enjoyed our stay at 44a. Our kids remarked how it looked like a Star Wars set when we pulled up with its beautiful adobe style. Everything that was stated in the listing was exact. The caretaker was incredibly attentive, helpful, and easy to access by phone or text. The internet and satellite tv worked great. There are several TVs in the house. Many choices of tea made available by hosts. Standard coffee maker. We experienced about a foot of snow overnight turning 44a into a winter wonderland. I loved the unique architecture and furnishings in the home. All of the attention to detail was amazing. Such a thoughtful space and immaculately clean. You will want for very little in this home! I would love to return to 44a for a summer stay to experience this house when everything is in bloom! For winter visitors! Since it snowed before our departure, we did have to dig the cars out and scrape a path to the main road. Supplies are available though. We were able to get our suv and minivan out with some shoveling of a path to the main road. If you turn left out of the property it is paved and about 10 minutes into Taos center.

Feb 2023 winter family vacation
Renting this property was an awesome experience; online pictures sold us on renting this place; however the neighborhood almost killed the deal. The house was very clean, charming and accommodating for our family needs, that we overlooked the negatives. Just wish you had had an 86 inch tv in the large living area; a place for all of us to gather together comfortably to watch movies… although the painting was very lovely.

Fantastic Cozy well furnished home
This home is historic, cozy and well furnished. The dining and living room seating areas accommodated our group of 7, while also accommodating private spaces. The fire places, the hot tub and the kitchen also accommodated group gathering! The kitchen was extremely well furnished for all of our meal prep! The home caretaker was easy to communicate with! We highly recommend this place

Lovely historic adobe home just outside of Taos
5 family members thoroughly enjoyed the week of Thanksgiving in Taos using this home as our base. This home is filled with wonderful art and is beautifully decorated. It is easy to find space to exercise (yoga) and to watch a movie, or to assemble a puzzle and play games. Cooking was quite fun in a well-stocked kitchen. Access to Taos and to places to hike was also easy.

Cool Adobe Home
Multi-level floors and adobe surroundings made this a unique and enjoyable stay. It fit 3 couples fine with 3 separate beds. Brother was surprised to how hard the bed was but he settled in and he was fine and comfortable. Our bed was medium and was comfortable. Our room had a sky light that was cool when the moon shone overhead and lite up the room. Kitchen was fine and we were able to prepare breakfast and dinner with no issues. The yard was beautiful but you need to watch out for the Goat Head stickers. They had a small apple tree in the side that still had fruit on it that was sweet and crisp. The only disappointments we had was there was no wood for the fireplace. Host apologized for the inconvenience and we had to run into town to buy wood. The other, although the Hot Tub was running, had a sign on it that it was not functional. Overall it was a good stay and I could recommend it to friends and family.

Definitely worth it
Great outdoor spaces, nice hot tub, kitchen well equipped, nice propane grill. Overall great place. I would caution anyone with mobility issues may have trouble as most rooms are one to three small steps up and/or down.

Authentic Sante Fe Style
We loved the atmosphere of this property, its ambiance was very authentic to the Sante Fe style. We were a little concerned when we headed down the dirt alley road but found our little under ground house without any trouble. Neighborhood was quite and easy to find our way around (we stayed here while skiing at Sipapu). Amenities were clean and plentiful. Only 2 thing that were not spectacular were the hot water/water pressure and access to the TV without fear of messing up the cable which you will be charged a service fee for (our kids just used their own devices). If we came skiing again we would book here again.

Gorgeous Home!
We loved this property! The outdoor spaces, the beautiful decor, the authentic style, and the location. We were close enough to drive to town within about 15 minutes but far enough out for a lot of peace and quiet. We had all the comforts of home we needed with nice appliances. We stayed very comfortably. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Lovely stay
We loved our stay here. The late season fruits in the orchard were so much fun for our 4 year old to pick and eat. The views were rejuvenating. The lazy acequia in the back practically invited you to relax and unwind. The caretaker of the property was responsive and helpful. Highly recommend.

Very Nice
A very nice place to stay in Taos. Indoors was very accommodating and outdoors offered gorgeous views and fruit trees. Nice sitting area in a private Courtyard. One thing you should know before renting is that there are several steps inside the house that would not be compatible with a wheelchair or walker.

Staying at 44A Maestas
The property was absolutely beautiful. The only problem we had concerned our special needs, disabled granddaughter who is confined to a wheelchair. I communicated this with the property managers, but no one ever mentioned the multiple levels of the rooms and the narrow doorways. Nor was it included in the description. Moving her through the house was a challenge. We will not be able to stay here at a later date with our granddaughter, but we highly recommend it to anyone else. The home was outstanding in beauty and amenities. There were plenty of dishes, cookware, and cutlery. The beds were extremely comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and evening time in the outside areas and the hot tub. Please understand that we are only concerned with the physical aspect that affected our granddaughter and her equipment. The place was wonderful and we highly recommend it to anyone that does not have disability issues.

Awesome ski vacation
We rented this house for three main reasons: it has 3 king sized beds, it has a washer and dryer, and it has a jacuzzi hot tub. But wow! - We got so much more than we expected! Tons of room, character, outdoor seating and a fabulous grill, extra comforts from home everywhere you looked. This was by far our favorite VRBO!

Amazing property!
Loved the history and architectural authenticity of the area. Pictures don’t do it justice! We had a group of girlfriends and we enjoyed the hot tub! Only complaint is the beds are ver hard except for one. Also need some softer or down pillows as the pillows were like rocks. Down comforters would be a nice cozy addition. We will be back in summer or fall.
