Our family of 6 (grandma, husband and I, and three kids, 9, 5, 1) traveled to this remote yet charming village of Punta Rucia. The village itself is quite small and basic/rustic, and doesn't offer too many tourist like attractions (i.e. Restaurants). However, our host (Natalie & Carl-Philippe) were amazing and took care of all of our needs. They also manage an adjacent restaurant to the property, where our kids had a dozen or more Pina Coladas. And if you are not into cooking this would be a place to enjoy some French cuisine by chef Juan Carlos. You can feel the family-like atmosphere between Natalie and Carl-Philippe, their staff, and guests. It feels like they treat you as part of their family. And this is something you will never feel in an all inclusive resort or hotel type stay.
The property is fantastic, and exactly as advertised. Our kids enjoyed white sandy beach and teal color waters, trampoline, swing and many beach toys that came with the house. Occasionally Alfanso, the ground keeper, would appear with a few open coconuts for our pleasure. He did a great job taking care of the property grounds and making sure we were safe. But the people that really made this trip unique and unforgettable were Kleiby, Rafalina, and their daughters.
Kleiby is your right-hand man, he takes care of your needs (i.e Excursions, trips to grocery stores, snorkeling, driver, etc.). Rafalina takes care of the house (i.e cleaning & washing). She is a great cook! Our kids loved playing with their daughters. But beyond their duties, Kleiby and Rafalina, are caring, warm, open and extremely friendly people despite cultural and language barriers. We were always on the same wave with them!
We spent 10 beautiful sunny days in early April: swimming, snorkeling, visiting 27 waterfalls, mangrove, deep sea, and spear fishing, 2 visits to the paradise island, and swimming with dolphins at Ocean World.
Punta Rucia is all about people, hospitality, atmosphere and great times! We are definitely coming back!!!
