Worst vacation ever! I am disappointed in this resort. This is not a 5 star resort! It’s more of a 3.5. My mother’s room was abnormally full of mosquitoes, maintenance had to come to clear the room. My room had mold and the couch’s cushion was ripped. The resort said my room would be changed within 30 minutes however an hour later I was told that they will fix it. After this so much happened. We had a massage at the beach, but no one showed up. Then we were told that it was in the spa. We did not get much help and by the time we made it to the spa we were told we can only get 10 minutes because we “were late”. When we made the appointment with the manager originally, he asked if we wanted the beach or the spa. There were no accommodations done at all. There were also soooo many flies in the Buffett, all over the food!!! I was concerned of what the kitchen looked like. I am leaving out other issues due to this review becoming lengthy. I ended up paying a cancellation fee and leaving. I was promised a refund if I paid the cancellation fee however, a week later was notified that the resort declined the refund. My reservation was for 7 days and I stayed for 3. The cancellation fee was the total of the 3 days. Guests deserve much better!

It was a lovely older resort. Everything was kept very clean, the staff were ALL amazing from the front desk to the servers to maintenance and everyone that was there! Unfortunately we had big rain for got 4 days out of 7 but the workers went out of their way to make sure everyone was still having a good time. The old buildings could use some update .

We had a little mishap when we first showed up, our confirmation number was showing up in their computer but not our reservation, so we didn’t end up getting the room we paid extra for and when we asked, they told us the room we are in was the suite…i’m not too sure if I believe that!

Overall it was a very enjoyable vacation. Decent grounds with nice views. Pool area was fun and beach is nice. Not sure if “Senator” recently took over the property but there are a few kinks to be worked out. For those that don’t know you also have access to Playabachata which is right next door to the Senator.

Check-in Nice and smooth check in. Once our ID was provided, we were given wristbands and card keys for our room. A bellhop was there to greet us even though it was 12:30 in the morning. Room The room was outdated to me. Very basic looking and the television played predominantly Spanish stations so my monolingual self was at a loss. Customer Service The people there were very friendly and attentive. They always asked how was my room (and wrote my concerns down) and was there anything they could do to make my stay more pleasurable. Unfortunately, I did tell them that I had 3 concerns (bathroom light was dimming out, the balcony doesn’t open and the air conditioner didn’t work) and only the first issue was resolved. Food The food was good. I enjoyed the buffet during breakfast. The servers were attentive, too. The steakhouse was booked so I had Italian one night and Hibachi our second night. The Italian was very good, the Hibachi was very average. Alcohol The alcohol that was included in this inclusive deal was no bueno. It was very bottom shelf and had me looking for soda instead. Pool The pool was nice. There were several pools and they didn’t go to high in feet which is great for the children and the non-swimmers. If you wanted a deeper dive the ocean was nearby. Although there were some hiccups, overall I enjoyed my weekend stay at Senator Puerto Plaza

We were pleasantly surprised with this amazing resort! It started with our first interaction at the reservation desk. Luis greeted us and made our check in enjoyable and perfect! Luis also helped us with the process to bring my fiancée’s young daughter to stay with us for a few days. The room and all the facilities are very clean, and the pool is wonderful. The housekeepers were amazing, all the staff are very friendly and helpful. Julian, who waits tables in the buffet, always greeted us with a huge smile and cheerfully offered beverages! The a la carte Steakhouse was incredible! We will definitely come back to the Senator. Thank you!
