Seafront, exceptional sea view, charm, fireplace and luxury comfort, 100m2

This old fisherman's house was completely renovated in 2011, charm and luxurious finishes on all three floors. This is the last but one house on the dock, just in front of two lighthouses in the outer harbor. With its large windows gives you a magnificent sea view from every room, and be grateful to watch the entrances and exit of vessels. This cottage can accommodate two couples with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, or a family with 3 children. Also magnificent view from the kitchen and living room-dining room. His authentic fireplace gives extra warmth to the ambiance of the house, like in open sea but nicely installed on the sofa for windy days.

14 days in Normandy
Dear VRBO, Our stay was wonderful. My dream came true to visit Normandy and the Beach my dad landed on in WWII>Omaha Beach The property was a serendipity experience for us as we used it as a base to explore. We rented a car from Bayeux so we had transport, the house had everything we needed for our 14 day stay and any problem(dryer issue) was immediately addressed. Our host was very accessible and responded immediately to any question I had. The only suggestion I would offer is the operation of the dryer. It needs emptying of reservoir to continue. The house is definitely quaint and has many creaks and quirks. But that only adds to the charm. We would return with no hesitation.

Mother Daughter Adventure - November in Normandy
This property and the coastal village were a wonderful part of our mother-daughter trip to France! My 3 sisters, mother and I stayed here for 3 nights as we explored Normandy. My mom is 75 and has some mobility issues, so we ended up setting her up on the sofa bed on the first floor so she didn't have to navigate the stairs that proved to be a bit more difficult than we expected. There are a few steps to climb to enter the property with a lip to step over as you go through the door. The first floor (ground floor) of the property is multi-level with a few steps up to the kitchen and a toilet/bathroom. The bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors (1st and 2nd in European terms). It is a beautiful old property! With beautiful ocean views! But that means that there are creaky stairs and other things that accompany older properties. The bathrooms and kitchen are very modern and we took advantage of the washer and dryer! By the lengthy instructions left by the host there must have been some issues with operating the fireplace in the past and there was a smoky smell that bothered my sisters (I live in an older home that has a smoky smell - so it smelled like home to me.) We appreciated all of the conveniences that were thought of by the host! And the quick responses we had to any questions! (The parking area in the front of the property was always available for us, but it was a little tricky to navigate getting in and out as there was not enough room to turn our van around, so my sister had to back out. A much smaller car could probably turn around, but it is helpful to know that it is a dead end.) We enjoyed delicious food in the village and lots of shopping! We drove to the D-day sites and Mont St. Michel while we stayed here. I wish I could have stayed longer! And I hope to bring by husband here some day! I definitely recommend this property!

Perfect location
We loved staying here with a beautiful view of the harbour and watching the comings and goings of the busy fishing boats. Even the life of the seagulls and ducks gave us joy. The house is lovely but be aware that the top floor bedroom has rickety stairs and has low eaves which is more suited to young people than older adults. Note that the bathroom is on the ground floor and the shower room is on first floor. All in all we (4 pensioners) had a great time here.

Great base for exploring Normandy
This house is perfectly located for anyone who wants to explore Normandy by car. Port-en-Bessin offers everything you need, and, with restaurants and essential shopping within an easy walk, this house fully capitalizes on that. We were planning to use both the main bedroom and the attic bedroom, but I found the convenience of having a bathroom at hand, rather than having to navigate the low clearance steps when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, drew me to sleep on the sofa downstairs (which is quite large and suited for this, as long as you're not six feet tall). We liked the convenience of having a washer and dryer, which made doing laundry a breeze. It's a very well fitted out house, and I would highly recommend it.

Great
The house is great particularly if you like to cook. Our only problem was that the house number was not posted on the house so finding it in the pouring rain was a mess. Fabulous owner

A super house with a super view
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this charming, stylish and very comfortable fisherman's cottage, located opposite the harbour entrance to beautiful Port-en-Bessin. The cottage was well 'kitted out' and the beds were so comfortable that we all rested and slept very well!! The daily activity of this fishing community was clearly observed from the comfort of the lounge and bedrooms, with the large windows ensuring that we made the most of the beautiful sun rise and sunsets over the harbour. It was lovely revisiting Port-en-Bessin, particularly with the preparations for the D Day Commemorations so evident all around the town. We found Sabine, the owner, to be most helpful in all our communications with her and we look forward to returning to her beautiful cottage in the future.

Lovely property with superb views of the harbour
We recently stayed here for 4 nights and thought both the property and location were fantastic. The house itself was very comfortable and well-equipped for our stay. The most impressive aspect was the views of the harbour which is literally outside your front door. We particularly enjoyed being able to sit at the table in the lounge and have breakfast or lunch and watch the boats coming and going. The other option is to sit upstairs in the master bedroom and look out to sea while reading a book. What could be more relaxing! Port-en-Bessin is a proper working fishing port and we enjoyed walking down to the quayside to watch the boats leave or return to harbour. If you stay there a trip to the fish hall is a must to buy incredibly fresh fish - the scallops are highly recommended. Bayeux is only 10-15 mins drive away and has plenty to recommend. We would love to come back and stay here again. Sabine the owner was very helpful with any questions we had and helped us get the most from our stay.

Characterful and well-equipped cottage on the seafront
Excellent base for exploring Normandy's great history. The cottage itself is clean, spacious and full of character and light. It is also well equipped and in a fabulous spot for walking around and exploring the lively fishing port of Port en Bessin. I have two quibbles. There is nowhere to sit outside with a coffee or glass of wine unless you take the little table in the lounge out with you on to the busy pavement. More importantly the parking right out side the cottage is usually grabbed by fishermen or other tourists and it can be tricky negotiating the car on the narrow and busy quay if you do manage to get a space. I ended up leaving my car a five-minute walk away in a small public car park and it was fine, so problem solved. Overall, a great stay in a friendly little town in the heart of D Day country.

Perfectly quaint and everything you need.
We had a fabulous time here. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The sound of the waves hitting the harbor walls put us into deep sleep along with the very comfortable bedding. The large dining table was perfect for 5 adults. The top floor had a spacious room easily equipped for adults or children. High chair and crib in room. I could have stayed forever! Thank you for a lovely quiet town and cozy house!

Great place for a winter break
We had a lovely 3 night break in February (2 adults, 2 kids). The gite is delightful - characterful and quirky but with modern comforts too like efficient heating and a dishwasher. The kids loved having their own floor up in the attic and the adults spent hours looking out of their bedroom window, watching the fishing fleet going in and out and seeing the sun rise and set. Most restaurants in Port-en-Bessin were shut in the evenings but that didn't much matter because the kitchen and dining space were so pleasant. The gite is well placed for trips to Bayeux and Arromanches. Our only suggestion for improvements would be to supply a small number of logs for the fire for winter breaks (it didn't seem worth buying a bag's worth for a short stay, so we ended up not lighting the fire at all, which was a shame).

Wonderful
The house was charming. The bathrooms and kitchen are fully updated and the washer and dryer complete all you will need. But the best part of the house are the fabulous views of the water. You could not be closer. The town is very friendly and charming. Very well located in Normandy, not far from Mont St Micheal You could not ask for anything more!
