This trip felt less on relaxing and safe and more focused on exploiting international visitors. Specific concerns included:
1. Check-In and Transportation Issues: Upon arrival, we were told our room was not ready and directed to meet with a representative in the lobby as a part of the check-in process. She offered a massage discount in exchange for attending a 90-minute presentation at a different resort.
2. Misrepresented Presentation: The promised 90-minute session turned into a 3-hour experience with an overly persistent salesperson pressuring us to purchase a product. The encounter was unprofessional and felt physically unsafe at times.
3. Dishonest Vendors: Vendors brought onto the resort property sold merchandise at exorbitant prices, including a $70 children’s t-shirt that we later found online for $20. This event was hosted during a lively party where alcohol was being served, which felt intentionally designed to pressure guests into purchasing overpriced items.
4. Shuttle Overcharge: I originally booked a shuttle through Expedia, but the shuttle company (Speedy Shuttle) contacted me to upgrade to a private transfer, citing significant delays with the shared shuttle. I paid an additional $140, only to later discover on their website that the private round trip was valued at $115 total. Despite reaching out to the company about this discrepancy, I’ve received no response.
We felt taken advantage of, rather than relaxed.
