Angler's Cove - Family Friendly Lakefront Cottage

Located in the center of the highly desired Halfmoon chain of lakes in the Pinckney Recreation Area, Angler's Cove is the perfect choice for those looking for a private piece of lakefront to swim, ski, fish and enjoy the thousands of acres of State forest land this area has to offer. The cottage sits on Round Lake, which is a small, quiet, no-wake lake connected to seven all sports lakes by navigable channels. The location is quiet, peaceful and safe for kids because there is no high speed boats or noisy jet skis flying by. Yet high speed boating is just a few hundred yards away. Connected lakes include Halfmoon Lake with a public swimming beach and boat launch, Bruin Lake which hosts a state park camp ground, Patterson Lake and Hi-land Lake located in Hell, Mi. Why rent a cottage on a lake where you drive in circles all day? Instead come explore the Halfmoon Chain of lakes and boat for hours and never pass the same shoreline. The deep lakes offer wonderful swimming, boating and fishing opportunities. Over half the shoreline of this chain is owned by the State of Michigan, making these lakes much less developed than other lakes in Southern Michigan. The natural beauty and scenery rivals that of Northern Michigan (without the drive).

Cottage includes central air conditioning, screen porch, flat screen smart tv, wireless internet, full size, fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher and ice maker. Both bedrooms have a quality queen size bed and the kids will love their private sleeping/quiet space in the loft (you'll love it too). Two bathrooms. Linens and towels provided.

The Pinckney State Recreation Area encompasses thousands of acres of pristine forest land and many hiking/biking trails open to the public. The trails offer some of the best hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking and hunting in the state of Michigan.

Enjoy a swim in the clean water, sunbathe or play with the kids on the sandy beach or yard or take a ride in the paddle boat or kayaks (provided). The dock has plenty of space to park your boat and there is hundreds of acres of water to explore. Pontoon boat rental available.

In the evening, warm to a campfire as you gaze at the stars, sit in the screened-in porch, visit a local pub in Hell, MI just 10 minutes away or explore the city of Ann Arbor just 30 miles to the Southeast. The towns of Chelsea, Dexter and Pinckney are all within 15 minutes.

Starting Memorial Day Weekend and before Labor Day Weekend requires a minimum 7 night stay. Check in Saturday at 3:00 pm, check out Saturday at 11:00 am.

The Round Lake cottage community hasn't changed much in decades. You will enjoy the nostalgic feel of this vacation community in the heart of the chain of lakes.
During your stay at this cottage, you're just a quick walk from Pinckney State Recreation Area. Enjoy your stay with amenities like free WiFi and a kitchen in the cottage.
  • Air-conditioned cottage with kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and patio
  • Free WiFi
  • Onsite recreation includes a playground
  • Just a 3-minute walk from Pinckney State Recreation Area and 14 minutes by car from Whispering Pines
As a guest of this cottage, you'll find barbecue grills, a garden, and local meal delivery service. The front desk is open around the clock.

Cozy,Clean Cottage
We had a wonderful visit to this sweet little cottage. The property was beautiful and the hosts supplied kayaks, a paddle boat and a pontoon boat for an extra charge. We had plenty of comfortable chairs for visiting family. The inside was extremely clean and well stocked. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. And, most of all the hosts were gracious, attentive to our needs and just great folks all around. I highly recommend staying here. We loved it!!!

Great!
We had a wonderful time at this property. The owners are very nice and accommodating, and went above and beyond when a storm knocked the power out in the area. We took the pontoon out to a sandbar everyday to laze the day away floating in the water. Fishing in the lake was good, we caught mostly largemouth bass and blugills, and a few perch. This is a great space to relax and enjoy the outdoors!

Like summer camp, but with wi-fi and central air-conditioning!
We had a fun time at this cottage on Round Lake and enjoyed exploring the rest of the Halfmoon Chain in the rented pontoon boat. (Fishing was so-so, some bass and a pike, plus panfish caught using bait.) The cottage is cozy, so best for family (or longtime friends) who don't need a lot of privacy. The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, utensils and cookware, and we appreciated the dishwasher which is cleverly built into the island. The property was not as quiet as we had hoped, mostly due to neighbors shouting at their yappy dogs (and a deck construction project next door which is now finished), but the setting is amazing. So beautiful to cruise in the pontoon boat along the undeveloped lakeshore (state land) and see herons and osprey. For a fun excursion, you can go have dinner in Hell (Michigan), right down the road. Pastries from the Pinckney Bakery are also a must! We can't say enough about the kindness and friendliness of the owners. We experienced an overnight power outage (due to strong storms in the area) and Bill was right there with a generator to rescue our vacation the next morning. Once you leave the pavement and head down the gravel road to the cottage, you won't want to leave!

Relaxing
Our family had a great time! The house was very clean and well maintained! The kitchen is stocked with everything you would need. The weather was beautiful so most of our time was spent outdoors swimming, fishing and using the the pontoon that we also rented from the owners. Speaking of the owners, they were phenomenal and there to help if we had any questions! Thanks for renting your cute little home out! We will be renting again!

Great Lake week
We spent a week here at end of June and the family had a great time. We spent a lot of time on the lake, using the paddle boat, kayaks and pontoon boat. Kids really enjoyed the swim dock and exploring the lakes. We enjoyed the shade of the backyard and screened in porch as well. Nice kitchen that had everything. Cute little towns nearby. We would come back again.

Great Family Stay!
This was our third year renting Bill and Daleen's cabin on the lake and it was, as always, amazing! Great time to relax with family and friends. The children love the water and the sandy beach as well as the dock, raft, kayaks and paddle boat. And sleeping in the loft is so much fun!

Wonderful, family friendly cottage, sandy play area, and swimming
We had a wonderful vacation and a large part of that was the wonderful cottage, sandy area, and swimming. The cottage itself felt more spacious than we had thought from the pictures. The A/C was refreshing, the AWESOME large kitchen island was a big hit with our family, and we enjoyed the ability to lounge in either the family area, screened-in porch, or outside near the lake. Our family (two adults and two kids (6 and 4)) had plenty of space in the cottage. We also took advantage of the kayaks and the paddle boat. We played some T-ball in the spacious grass area between the cottage and the sandy beach area. We grilled. We had campfires in the fire pit (and roasted s'mores, of course). The best part - for our family - was the sandy beach area, the dock, and the swimming platform. There were plenty of sand toys available (which saved us from needing to pack our own) and the owners provided a great sun shade tent that provided coverage over the sandy beach area and that was much appreciated! Our family spent many hours each day jumping off the dock, swimming to the swim platform, and jumping off the swim platform. Great memories were made! The sandy beach area was really nice and the water level was gradual until the end of the dock (where it drops off pretty quickly). We were very impressed and grateful for such a wonderful cottage. We also enjoyed traveling in the nearby area. We had dinner in Pinckney (Fondness was amazing!), had fried fish and ice cream in Hell, and traveled down to playgrounds (and ice cream) in Chelsea. We highly recommend this cottage for families such as ours. We are already planning to look at booking for summer 2022. Thanks Bill and Daleen!

Spent a weekend at this place on the lake. Everything went very smoothly and the place was very clean and well stocked. The kayaks and paddle boat were nice to have. We had bonfires both nights. Nothing could have been better and I would not hesitate to rent this place again.

Quiet, peaceful, lakefront stay
The location was really nice - quiet part of the Hiland chain of lakes. The property has a nice beach and two docks. It was really nice to have a paddle boat and kayaks to use. The kitchen was well stocked with all accoutrements. The screened in porch and living room were great places to hang out. It would’ve been perfect if I didn’t have to spend the first 2 hours cleaning. It was a bit of a turn-off. I don’t known how anyone would rent out a property in that condition;; especially during a pandemic. Out of courtesy to the owner, I won’t go into detail. I did give feedback to the owner, who apologized, but didn’t offer any assistance or recompense.

Beautiful Outdoor Area for Kids!
We chose this property for the back yard- the long, vast grassy area leading to a beachfront with shallow water. Perfect for our four year old and one year old- who is very on the go! We felt very safe with our young kids on this property. Accommodations were perfect size for our family of four. Enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks (but bummed Sally The Pontoon wouldn’t work for us- hope she is healing well!). Hosts were excellent and very responsive. Thanks for having us!

I could live here!
The things to love about this property are numerous. First, the use of space in this cozy cottage is spot-on. The kitchen lay out is the perfect gathering area, and fully equipped. The beds are comfortable and the loft is genius... kids LOVE that! The sitting room is tight for more than 4 people, but who sits inside at a lake house :) The screened patio is where we spent our nights. Outdoors, they provide kayaks, a paddle boat, beach sand and toys, plenty of seating, a pontoon on site available to rent...MUCH cheaper than renting from a marina! And it's a nice one. The yard is fantastic. It's not only a nice size, but there's shade all day long. Bill and Darlene are very responsive and hospitable. It really is a wonderful getaway. Definitely recommended.

Everything was great from the time I first started looking at this. They answered all my questions promptly and once we got there, the cottage was more than we expected. From the cleanliness of the house to the sandy beach area by the lake this was just what we needed for our grandkids. Everything was perfect and we had a wonderful time. Hope to be back again.
