The associate who checked us in was awesome! The room was a bit worn down - paint peeling in the bathroom, AC unit was confusing and looked worn. There was some mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. We asked that it be cleaned on one day but within 24 hours nothing was done. We asked a different employee the next day and when we came back to the room it was done, so 2 out of 3 staff people were really great! The hotel should have been 1 or 2 stars - no gym, no breakfast. It was sufficiently clean that my wife was willing to stay, but she did make me promise that we would never stay in a place like this again.

A Good Weekend Hotel

The stay was good. We arrived late due to Los Angeles traffic and they were courteous enough to call us to make sure we were still coming, and not canceling our reservation. That was very thoughtful. King bed room was huge, we were surprised about that. Yes we would stay again.

I got the impression this hotel was family owned and/or operated. We had issues with our tv and 2 teenage girls came in to see what the problem was and got assistance via phone but could not grt it working. 2 days later, a technician came in to fix the issue and tv then worked as it should. Room cleanliness was ok. There was dirt/hair at the rear of the base of the bathroom sink pedestal. Other than that, the rest if the room was fine. Beds made and new towels daily. Staff was courteous, very willing to assist. Not used to a downtown atmosphere so this was a litle strange.

Tile showers and bathroom floor were nice. Room was clean and bedding clean. Side bed light wasn't working. Some lightbulbs were out. The dining table was broken and wobbly. The TV wasn't working either.

What you would expect from a cheap motel downtown. The staff were all very nice but the rooms and property itself was old and worn. The tv didn’t really work(there was a black line down the center and would static out several times on live TV). The bathroom/shower is very small and old. There is a music venue across the street so there was sound most of the night but not to the point that you can’t sleep. It’s not a 5 star hotel by any means but if you just need a place to sleep near the convention center it does the job.

The room was dirty, the walls were peeling off, the bathroom floor was spotted brown with grime, and the room smelled strongly of urine. There was a biker gang revving their engines and blasting music all night long. I used Expedia and chose the option to pay upon arrival and they charged me ahead of time. Would not recommend unless you’re desperate.

So... I stayed here a couple of weeks before and was not impressed, but decided to give it another shot because the location is convenient... but it was EVEN WORSE! The TV didn't work and I had to stand there for 15 minutes while the guy tried to fix it even though I asked after 10 if he could just move me to a different room. I want happy with the quality of the room a couple of weeks ago, but (again) this one was worse. I'll definitely be paying more for rooms and travel to where I need to go because this place isn't worth even the low price they charge.

Definitely will book again!

I booked this room as it was right across the street from the concert venue I was going to that night. The staff was super friendly and the Lobby was clean! The vending machine was decently stocked (I’d have LOVED an energy drink option but that’s just a personal preference). The room was decent, it either was or definitely had been a smoking room in the past as it had a little lingering smell but it wasn’t bothersome at all. The rooms are a little outdated but the bed was big and the pillows were comfy! I’ll absolutely book here every time I go to a show at The Van Buren, which is often!!

Cozy Downtown Motel

Surprisingly pleasant downtown motel. Excellent location and comfortable space at a reasonable cost. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others traveling on a budget.

I wish I had not booked this place. The smell is pretty horrendous (smoke humidity mold) in the hallways and in the rooms, even if you let the window open. The shower gets clogged up after 30 seconds and you need your own personal electric cable to get the fan going. There were hairs on the bed when we arrive and there is no double lock on the door. Parking is easy but there were folks walking around and looking closely at our car.
