Our guesthouse is the perfect private getaway for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. It is a separate unit located behind our main house on our central Phoenix property. We built it ourselves, so it has many unique touches you won't find anywhere else. We have named it the Beaker Bunker for its fun, science-themed décor. We know you'll also love the comfortable bed, well-supplied kitchenette, and cozy living room. It's a great home base as you explore what Arizona has to offer!
This 625-sq.ft. (58-square meter) guesthouse has everything you might need for a lovely stay, plus a lot of personality!
There's street parking for your car in front of our main house, and then a short walk of approximately 200ft. (60 meters) to the guest house. Along the way, you might catch a glimpse of our desert tortoise, backyard chickens, desert plants, and unique sculptures. The yard is a work in progress, but we have grand visions for our little oasis. During your stay, you may catch us working on new murals, gardening, or building that pizza oven we have planned, but we promise to be careful not to disrupt your visit!
The first thing you'll notice about the guest house is its large patio with outdoor seating and a cute little palm tree. This is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee. The stylish exterior was designed and executed by Mike and Jackie. With an easy-to-use keyless entry, you'll soon be enjoying your own private space in central Phoenix.
The living room has a comfortable sofa which can fold out into a bed, allowing the guesthouse to accommodate as many as four guests. It also features a smart TV, giving you access to all of your favorite streaming service providers. With the super fast WiFi, you can also keep up with work demands or plan your sightseeing adventures.
The kitchen features a full-size refrigerator and freezer, a microwave, a dishwasher, a coffeemaker, a dual induction cooktop, a Ninja blender, an electric kettle, and a toaster. Please note that there is no oven. We have supplied pots and pans; dinnerware, glassware, and silverware for four; cooking utensils; coffee; and basic spices and ingredients. There is seating for four at the dining table, so you can enjoy a meal in if you've had your fill of the fabulous local restaurants.
The bathroom has a large shower and is supplied with all of the necessary amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner, fluffy towels, a hairdryer, etc.).
The bedroom features a queen-sized bed with a Tuft & Needle mattress. There is a repurposed locker wardrobe where you can store your clothing. We also have a luggage rack for your use. This should provide you a nice place to recharge for the night.
The science theme we've adopted means that you won't be staring at the same old generic paintings you'll find in hotel rooms. We've curated an interesting collection of artifacts from beautifully preserved butterflies to a 1920s pocket pharmacy. We have a telescope, microscope, and several science books to peruse. The artwork, including some original pieces created by Mike or Jackie, is science-inspired as well. We hope our guest house will not only be a lovely place to stay, but also a place to rekindle your curiosity about the world!
Finally, all guests will have access to a laundry room with a large washer and dryer. Here, you'll also find an iron and ironing board.
We hope you choose to stay at the Beaker Bunker!
