A beautiful hotel. Rooms were spacious and felt new. Unfortunately, the staff weren't the friendliest people we had encountered on our trip. All the amenities we needed to see this beautiful city.

Shady place
The place reeked of marijuana in the hallways and into the room. The hidden fees are shadey charging me over $250 for a room advertised as $150 after parking and "resort fees" for a 12 hr stay. I checked in at 11pm and asked for a late checkout because i had a teleconference at 11am but that wasn't allowed. The room was small for the price but was relatively clean except for the marijuana stench.

The staff was mostly incompetent and unhelpful (except for Janelle, who checked us out and seemed very good at her job). One major issue was with the interaction between the hotel and the valet parking. The person who checked me in to the hotel forgot to give me my parking stub back, so it was lucky that I remembered as I was walking away and asked for it. This ended up being crucial because the same employee also forgot to register the parking in the hotel database! This means that, if I hadn't gotten the stub back, they would have had no record tying me to my car, and who knows how I could have gotten it back. It also meant that I might have been charged more for parking, since guest parking is discounted. Thankfully, I got the stub back and Janelle helped me register the parking with the hotel on the way out. Also, the coffee/tea machine was full of water and moldy on the inside, so clearly none of the cleaning staff had looked at it in ages. When we called about this (around 10 pm), we were told we could try the Art Bar for tea and they did nothing about the moldy machine. (The Art Bar said they did not serve tea at that hour, by the way.) The next day we went to the desk and asked for a replacement coffee machine and also more bars of soap. The soap never came. Someone did come to replace the machine, but also spilled some of the moldy water on the floor and didn't clean it up. Overall bad experience and disappointing for a 4 star hotel.

Hotel staff was friendly and personable. Tim the bellman was super friendly and gave great suggestions for restaurants in the area. Hotel is near to everything and you can definitely get a lot of walking in to visit is various sites.

I feel compelled to complain about this hotel. When we got to the room the room smelled of stale cigarettes and perfume. The rugs were badly stained. The furniture was scratched and beat up. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. The room was way smaller than advertised. I’m not sure how it got the ratings it did. I had planned a really special girls weekend with my two daughters where we had planned to spend the night in and watch movies. I was not going to do that in that room. Needless to say I was beyond disappointed. It was so bad we left within 20 mins and got a different hotel (doubling the cost of the weekend). I would like a refund.

Very noisy rooms and lots of light that comes in from hallway. No fan in bathrooms and very outdated and worn rooms. The best thing about my stay was how friendly and helpful staff were.

It was good. However there were noisy people in the hallway who woke me up! But that’s not your fault!! Maybe somehow mentioning to people to be respectful late at night. We always stay at the Sonesta when we are in Philly. I love the location and the cleanliness. Our room is always very comfortable. And the linens are very nice.

The staff at the Sonesta was quite nice and we were thrilled to get an unexpected room upgrade. Thank you for making our stay a little nicer! The hotel is well located and makes getting to shopping, museums, concerts, and dining easy.
