Upon entering the property. the lack of basic upkeep in the hallways is evident in the state of the carpeting both on the first floor and the stairs leading up to the upper levels. When I went into the room, I was overwhelmed by the odor of stale cigarettes. I stayed in the room for just ten minutes and during that time, I had a visceral, physical reaction to the smell. While the sheets and bathroom had the look of basic cleanliness, the state of the floor (which looked damp and like it had not been vacuumed in a while), I knew there was no way I could stay at this unit by looking at the bed and inhaling the horrible smell. I have stayed in many basic, budget places, but the stench of stale cigarettes is something that cannot be overlooked.
