Peaceful mountain retreat on Walker Creek

There is something about a clear mountain creek that brings back memories of simpler days and reminds us of the timeless joys that can be found in ordinary moments- wading barefoot into the cool water, skipping rocks, learning how to fly fish, tubing downstream on a sunny day, or swapping stories on the porch over a cup of coffee. Scenic Walker Creek, the largest tributary to the New River in Virginia, is a wide creek that winds through forests, pastures, and mountains on its journey to join the river.

Walker Creek Crossing offers all the modern amenities to make your stay comfortable as well as the enduring charm of a country retreat. The spacious kitchen and dining room overlook the water and are designed for sharing meals with friends and family. Downstairs, the game room is a favorite gathering place. Walker Creek Crossing is a short drive from the Appalachian Trail, Cascade Falls, birding trails, and some prime spots for canoeing and kayaking. At just twenty-five minutes from Radford and Blacksburg, guests can enjoy a peaceful escape to the quiet countryside while still having all the convenience of nearby dining, shopping and activities.

Walker Creek Crossing is a great place to get together and return to the simple joys that turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Sleeps 9. Friendly, well-behaved pets will be considered for an additional fee.

Thanksgiving with Syracuse Women’s Volleyball
Syracuse volleyball parents hosted thanksgiving dinner for the team. The place was large enough for 27 people. The outdoor space and lower level provided enough activity for the girls before and after dinner. We had a great time! Thank you 😊

Rented the house Thanksgiving weekend with family and attended the VA Tech game. The house was perfect our group of ten. Will definitely come back in the fall when it’s warmer to do some kayaking and fishing. Didn’t have time to use the grill on the back deck but set up overlooking the creek is peaceful.

The Shaffer VTech Bug Fest Weekend
We arrived at night due to traffic from Northern VA. Highly suggest installing a motion detector for night time arrivals. The roads to get there are very curvy, wish we had started earlier to get past the traffic to drive the roads in sunlight verses night. We saw lots of deer, opossums, ground hogs, raccons, and foxes. The house was great! Everyone slept great ! We have some young grandkids so the pool table made us a little nervous. We all thought a pingpong top on the pool table would be great to give a variety to games. Wi-Fi worked great. The fire pit was petfect addition to our evenings and having the firewood there was handy. The weather was awesome. The deck made the perfect outdoor setting to read just like the front porch swing. The kids loved all the stuffed animals on the walls in the basement. Kitchen was very well stocked with items. We bought groceries in Blacksburg at Krogers. We went to Sinkland Pumpkin Patch. We were very surprise at the live music, all the different types of food and drink there. Sinkland had a trail ride with rescued horses. The Bug Fest was very cool especially for all ages. They had a lot of ingeresting exhibits! The location was great to do all the activities we did! Everyone gave it a thumbs up and would like it to be our place for visits to VTECH! ages. The view ages.litwoth them. I

Comfortable, Clean, Quiet
We are repeat renters and will undoubtedly return. The location is very quiet and peaceful – during our stay we saw an otter family, bald eagles and deer. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The living room has comfortable, plentiful seating. Mattresses and pillows are comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and helpfully includes many spices, oils and other basics. Additional fun amenities include the pool table, large deck with plentiful seating and charcoal grill, river access, kayaks/floaties/folding chairs, fire pit, board games, and DVDs. It’s an easy, 40-minute drive to the VT campus. Entry code is convenient, no need to worry about a key. The host was very responsive. Some minor negatives are dirty floors in the basement (just need to be mopped), broken pinball machine, and no cell service (but wi-fi worked fine). Nothing that will stop us from returning – we will be back!

We were in the area for a wedding, and we stayed here with 4 adults and 3 teens and 1 child. The kids loved the river and all the floats and kayaks the host provided. The house was perfect for our family’s needs. So peaceful!

Very roomy, comfortable house
We had a very comfortable stay at this property. Water was too low for kayaking but the house was very roomy and comfortable. It is as the pictures depicted and the area is extremely quiet. Even though it ended up being only 3 of us staying the house could easily sleep10 as advertised - we stayed there because of a family reunion at my sisters in Blacksburg which took about 40 minutes to get to her house. Would recommend this property to a big group as it can handle it.Thanks for the comfortable stay!

Family time
We had a great time being together and the house fit all our needs. The bugs in the bottom level were a concern because it was constant and upsetting to the kids.

Nice Stay
Nice property but could have been cleaner. Floors were dirty and turned our feet/socks black. Bathrooms could have been cleaned a little more throughly. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and there were plenty of amenities

Beautiful but needs improvement.
House has beautiful decorations but unfortunately common house items that either need replacing or fixed.Kitchen chair was broken, along with the bed broke on the first floor on my 3rd night. We had a issue with locking the bottom lock and got locked out.I had to go up the stairs which were very hard for myself to unlock the front door. This was resolved but i had to call the owner who gave us a quick response.I didnt realize their was a old bridge that was right outside the deck which was a eye sore. The fire pit was awesome and Tyler the (neighbors dog) gave us a visit which we enjoyed. It was easy access for the front door.We enjoyed the porch swing and it was a really nice house.I dont think i would rent again due to we are older and we would have loved to fish but to steep.I do think this house could be perfect for a family who isnt disabled like mine. Finally like i said we really enjoyed Tyler and the fire.

Wonderful stay!!
Spent Easter weekend with our daughter (who goes to VT), along with her siblings, great aunt, and our dog at this lovely property. It was so welcoming and homey and had everything we needed and more. Kitchen was well stocked, lots of movies for movie nights, many games and fun for the kids. Great location to go hiking (Cascade Falls is one) and fun places to eat (many where you can also take your pets). The local bakery, Sugar and Flour, had delicious coffee and treats and the owner gave us free cookies to enjoy on our travel home. Megan our host was so helpful and accommodating, offering a terrific list of places to visit and eat. Will be back so we can take advantage of the river right out back and fire up the fire pit for smores. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Great place for Virginia Tech game
We took our boys (14 and 11) to the Homecoming game at Virginia Tech. We wanted a place that wasn't too far away from Blacksburg (about 40 mins), but offered a peaceful retreat. This house was perfect and very clean! My kids loved the pool table. They also enjoyed watching the cows across the creek. We hiked the Cascades Trail, and the trailhead is a short drive from the house. They want to come to another Virginia Tech game, and asked to stay here again!

Loved our week!
We stayed a week here to visit family and enjoy the area. The house was roomy, comfortable, and clean. We loved getting out on the creek and the location was close to family with very reasonable drives into town for provisions. The internet worked well. There was no cell service at the house, but that was expected for the area. Our only suggestion is to have a few bowls/containers available to store food. The only Tupperware type container we found had a huge crack in the bottom. Otherwise, the house had everything you’d need to cook meals, etc. Thank for the wonderful hospitality!

Well equipped and quiet setting
The house is well equipped for just about everything to do inside and out. The weather did not cooperate for us to enjoy the outside amenities except for the front porch as it rained all the days of our stay. It is a very quiet area with very little traffic. We plan on coming again to the area and want to stay here, and hopefully have better weather! We would highly recommend staying here.
