non-functioning washer and no storage in 2nd bedroom
We were 2 friends in 2 bedrooms. We are used to the bedrooms not being equal in rental units, but the 2nd bedroom had no storage for the contents of the suitcase of the person occupying the room. All available space was occupied by the owner’s belongings, including the closet, which contained a vacuum cleaner, brooms, dirty dust wands and mop rags, not ideal for hanging clothes. One of our qualifications for an apartment was to have a washing machine. The washer did not work. There was a hole where the « start » button was supposed to be, so we had to spend time in a laundromat, not what we were planning to do in Paris. When we told the management company that the washer didn’t work, they first tried to say that it wasn’t advertised with a washer. I sent them the description that clearly said there was a washing machine. They gave us a small refund. How do you pay for lost vacation time? We are 2 people who don’t do the same activities. We asked for a second set of keys at check-in. The checker said he would ask. We never heard from him. We asked the management company about a 2nd set, and they didn’t respond for 5 days, our last day, saying that it was not possible. This meant that the two of us had to coordinate our separate returns to the apartment so that we would arrive back at the apartment at the same time. I’ve never had a rental where we couldn’t have a 2nd set of keys. On the good side, the large living room/kitchen was very nice. Apt is close to 2 Métro lines.
