Unfortunately booked a smoking room as that was all they had left in their availability and they were unable to move us to a non smoking room. Entirely our fault so nothing to fault the hotel but I would advise anyone thinking of booking a smoking room as a cheaper option not to as the smell is intense. There was also a loud constant vibrating noise so unsure if we were under the laundry room
The room is more spacious than other hotel and it does have windows with street view. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's a metro station right outside the front door and a market within a block. A 10 minutes metro ride will take you to the famous Kuromon Ichiban Market.

Excellent location but hotel premises are rundown
Hotel location is excellent - connected to Yotsubashi subway station on the blue line via an elevator from levels B2 to 1, with a supermarket and McD’s across the road. You can walk via underground mall Crysta Nagahori to Shinsaibashi subway station on the red Midosuji Line as well. Free amenities. But premises are old, rundown and smell smoky. Bed and pillow are hard and not very comfortable. Service was brusque but efficient enough, though most of the staff speak limited English. No daily housekeeping (every 3 nights) but fresh towels every day. We got the deluxe room so there was plenty of space and a city view.
This is our second time booking this location and it again lived up to our expectations! Super convenient and if you are looking for a centralized spot that is walkable distance from the two major train lines and Dotonburi, then this would be the ideal location.
The rooms are a little older condition, but still very well kept and clean. Staff are super helpful and friendly! Helped us call our next hotel before we shipped out our luggages to Tokyo.
This is a landmark hotel with a history to tell. One is overawed by the illustrious guests she has entertained, including the much-loved Ike. It was Madame Chiang’s idea to build the hotel and she really got sense and taste. The traditional Chinese architecture is stunning and endearing. Though nowadays she has turned to a clientele of common mortals, the Grand Hotel never disappoints.
The woman at the front desk was welcoming and helpful. She helped us to send our luggage to the next city and also with other questions. The lady that cleaned the rooms in our floor was very kind and helpful even without speaking English. Our double room was very small and outdated but this was the only hotel in osaka that I have stayed.
Great hotel, and in a convenient area, walking distance from the busy shopping and dining streets. Very close to several late night bars. Clean and friendly staff. But if you're not from Japan/Asia, be prepared for a tiny room. My partner and I were traveling with only backpacks and there was almost zero space to lay out any luggage or clothes. There was a lot of stepping over each other and our things. Taking turns for the bathroom was like trying to pass each other in an airplane aisle. If you don't mind that and don't have big checked luggage, it's a good option.
Great location just a walks away from Shinsaibashi. The escalator next to the hotel connects to the Osaka Metro which also connects to the underground shopping mall.
We stayed in 4 hotels in Japan for this trip and this is the only hotel that the staff weren’t friendly. They’re professional and will help you if you asked but not sure what it is, they didn’t smile or greet you or acknowledge you unless you come up to them. This is the only hotel we experienced that.
