Grindstone Harbor House is a perfect retreat for families, couples and special occasions with friends. The gated gardens and lawn elevate the fantastic views from the infinity deck with a hot tub and easy outdoor living. We hope to provide you with a lifetime of memories.

Located near the Orcas Island ferry, you'll enjoy the quietude of this exclusive waterfront neighborhood. With acres of Douglas Fir and Western Cedar trees, there is a lush northwest forest to buffer you from the undeveloped road and distant waterfront estates on the edge of this private harbor. Some families have been in the harbor for nearly ninety years, so say hello and relax in this fantastic location.


You have use of the entire property and home during your stay. The home is gated with parking for two cars inside the gate and two cars outside the gate.

From the expansive deck with a four-person spa, enjoy views of the ferries, distant islands, and a private cove teaming with eagles, herons, otters, seals, and deer. You can play and paddle right out your door with a rocky outcropping and fire pit overlooking the harbor.

On the main floor of this beautiful home is a chef's gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, a kitchen island with seating for six, new cabinetry, and a wide variety of cookware, serveware, glassware, appliances, spices, a coffee bar, and two refrigerators with freezers. There are two wall ovens and a large electric cooktop. It's the perfect gathering spot for the chefs to participate in preparing meals while enjoying the water views and sharing stories of the day's adventures. The dining room is open to the kitchen with floor-to-ceiling windows on all sides, connecting you to the natural wonders .

The large living room offers plenty of seating for visiting, reading, games, puzzles, or TV. The sun-drenched window seat is a favorite spot, perfect for watching eagle, osprey, and kingfisher activity. With a hand-built stone fireplace in the heart of the living room, there is ambiance and warmth in this comfortable gathering space.

Head up the spiral stairs to discover three bedrooms and two full baths. The expansive Master Bedroom features a king bed and a private balcony. There is seating outside for the early morning coffee and taking in the beauty of Grindstone Harbor. Back indoors, there is a reading area, large closets, and a daybed for an additional guest. The large Master Bath ensuite has two white marble vanities, a custom-tiled shower, and a large slipper tub for the ultimate relaxation and self-care.

The east-facing bedroom has a king bed, two twin beds, and a toddler’s bed tucked away in a tiny nook. With an armoire and closet, there is space for hanging clothes and large windows to take in the surroundings outside.

In contrast, the west-facing bedroom has a queen bed, two closet spaces, and a large window looking out to the harbor.

Both guest bedrooms share the upstairs full bathroom with a shower/tub combo, custom tiles, and a white marble vanity. There is a third full bathroom on the main level of the house (just down the spiral stairs and into the powder room, where a custom-tiled shower and vanity await). All three bathrooms are newly remodeled with a bright, contemporary style.

There is a large laundry room with a top-loading Samsung washer and dryer, an extra refrigerator with a freezer, pantry storage, and cleaning tools to tidy up during those extended stays.

Explore this private waterfront property with miles of empty country roads ideal for walking, running, or bicycling. Nearby are the ferries, bicycle and kayak rentals, stores, and restaurants.

Orcas Island is the gem of the San Juan Islands, located in Washington State. It contains Moran State Park with 2000 ft. elevation Mt. Constitution, thirty miles of hiking and biking trails and five freshwater lakes; extensive yachting facilities at Westsound and Deer Harbor; access by scheduled or private air service or floatplane; ferry service to the other San Juan Islands and the U.S. mainland at Anacortes, and Amtrak service to Mt. Vernon; excellent restaurants, food, wine, and gift shops, galleries and artist studios, summer markets, a lovely library, and small historical museum, and a full schedule of summer activities and community theater. There is an interactive children's museum and a nationally acclaimed skateboard park. Four well-established children's summer camps are on the island or immediately adjacent. Enjoy the ultimate in seclusion and relaxation yet with all the amenities close by on this magical island.

We highly recommend having a car to explore the island. Whether you drive your car onto the Washington State Ferry or fly into the island and rent a car, it's essential to have a car to go to Eastsound for shopping and restaurants and head out to explore the many beaches and trails.
