Noisy and not very accommodating.
The housekeeper was very friendly. The condition of our hotel room was quite run-down, and the front desk clerks were not friendly and seemed put out when I needed to visit the office. We were given a room downstairs, right next door to the housekeeping room. When we mentioned that the door next to us opened and slammed closed constantly and we heard running water and other noises throughout the day every day, rather than offering another room or some discount, the clerk simply said "sorry".

So bad! We checked in at 4 in the afternoon after finally finding the rude guy who works the office. The room was awful: strongly smelled of chemicals and bug spray, bedding visibly dirty, floors grimey. No way. Then we noticed 3 guys hanging out in the parking lot drinking many beers and playing their radio loudly and more loud music from an adjacent room blasting into parking lot. Why is this tolerated? We quickly decided to cancel, but the rude clerk wanted to argue about it and refused to give us a refund (he said his manager wouldn’t allow it, and that sounded like a lot of BS to me). Do not give this establishment your money. They clearly don’t care about the quality of their property or their guests but will gladly take your money. I seriously thought I would get sick or bugs from staying another seconds in that motel. In the future I vow to always check my guest room before I hand over my credit card.

First of all, front guy shouted to me credit card‼️I really couldn’t understood his accent, I’m not racist or prejudice. I’m second language English, maybe he is too. But, it was not good experience. I could hear road side and upstairs noise. I couldn’t believe this hotel is a part of Best Western hotel group.

I like this hotel because…
I like this place to stay when I visit my daughter at UC Berkeley because of the short walking distance to the UCB, very comfortable bed(s), new shower room, renovated rooms. However, the breakfast is not prepared enough. When I went to the office to pick up some food, only coffee and a few danish bread were left. It was 8:30am.

The most disturbing attribute was the fact that the flimsy floor tiles were curling up and became a trip and cutting hazard to bare feet. The second most disturbing was the sound transmission between the first and second floor that allowed foot fall, music and dancing noise to be heard from the adjoining space.

The room was okay, but very cramped. The beds were lumpy & uncomfortable and the air conditioner did not work so it was very hot. (Pretty sure management knew this but did not inform us at check in). Location was good and there was parking so that was helpful.

Run down and crime risk
You get what you pay for here. Run down motel in a dirty part of Berkeley. Lots of homeless camped here. Loud noises until 1am and my car got broken into and stuff stolen. Would not stay here again.

The rooms are not the same as advertised they are very small. The conditions of the room are terrible. There were stains on the comforter and dirt and stains all over the walls and doors. The free breakfast is just stale bread and watered down juice.

Won’t be staying again…
I booked this hotel due to its proximity to a concert venue. I paid $250 for this room, which is very overpriced for the quality of the room. Upon checking in, half of the parking lot was roped off. Only 1 side of the parking lot was available for guest parking. When I entered the lobby to check-in, front desk told me they could not find my reservation. I attempted to find my reservation under my hotels.com account, but WiFi in the lobby wasn’t working. I confirmed the address of the hotel, I provided my full name and ID. Front desk said I might have the wrong hotel, at that point I was anxious and frustrated thinking that there was an error with my reservation. Finally the guy behind the desk said “I’m just joking with you”….not sure what gave him an indication that that ‘joke’ was funny or appropriate for the situation. When I finally got to my room, it was TINY with a very strong smell of cleaning product. Before take a shower, I inspected the inside and found hair and wet tiles (hopefully water or cleaning solution) by the drain. I shouldn’t have to clean any part of a hotel room upon first entering it. The shower was poorly designed; the shower head faced the shower curtain so when I turned the water on, all the water seeped onto the bathroom floor. Bed was uncomfortable, the mini fridge made a weird clicking sound throughout the night. There was also a party going on in the parking lot. Music, solo cups, 20 or so people acting like it was a bar.
