Staff great, beer selection much better, newly decorated rooms, and great breakfast. Could do with a better walkway to rear car park, and would have liked an evening meal, but understand the reasons for this.

Such character for an older building. The food was excellent, both breakfasts and evening meals, you certainly wouldn't go hungry. Paul and Lisa made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly recommend the hotel, and will be going back.

Lovely welcoming staff. Enormous amounts of good, very well cooked and delicious for a good price. Comfortable and spacious room with tea, coffee etc. Large choice of breakfast, cereals, toast, full english or sandwiches inc dairy and gluten free options included in price. Highly recommended

Our second visit to the hotel and again made to feel welcome. Th he rooms have undergone renovation to a good standard. All very clean and spacious. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. The hotel staff couldn’t be more helpful. Looking forward to another visit soon Paul Saunders

A good stay at this hotel. For the price we paid - happy with the accommodation. They are renovating so it's a work in progress. Room and bathroom were fine, nice shower. Dinner and breakfast were great. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very steep stairs, which proved a bit of a problem for our young puppy - but we managed.

Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to busy (and often noisy) main road. Appreciate that the hotel is in a transition since new owners took over in 2023 so understand it is not yet at its optimum. Room was clean. Could not leave window open as there was a flat roof outside and other rooms/double doors linked to the same area. Breakfast was satisfactory with the friendly staff happy to accommodate guests requirements.

Beautiful location & great food
Staff were lovely & so polite. Our evening meal was delicious as was our breakfast. Our room was spotlessly clean & comfortably. Unfortunately, the bathroom let it down, in desperate need of refurbishment. I asked for a walk in shower as I am having a knee replacement in a few weeks & have great difficulty bending my knee. The shower had a high step which was very difficult for me, my husband had to help me get out as I couldn't managed it on my own. I phoned before booking to ask if there were any ground floor rooms or a lift, I was advised that there wasn't & there was a short flight stairs. Although there were only a few stairs they were very steep & I did fall over going up them. Definitely avoid staying if you have mobility issues. The toilets are just of the bar area, the door leading to the toilets & the door to the gents were left open, therefore, we could smell urine which was rather unpleasant. My husband did close the door a couple of times, but it kept being left open by other customers. We will not stay again, but will definitely go back for a meal as the food is great.

Had a lovely 3 night stay. Extremely dog friendly and location superb. Staff were extremely helpful. Food in restaurant lovely. Bear in mind that there are parts that are work in progress, and are working very hard to get into shape. Knowing this it still exceeded our expectations and would definitely return.

A nice old English pub with lots of small rooms, uneven floors and masses of charm. Plenty of room outside to eat or drink and lots of mooring space. On the hotel side the rooms are clean. My bedroom was nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom felt a little older, with the mirror over the washbasin at chest level - so shaving took some limboing. But it didn’t spoil my stay - especially as they’re slowly upgrading the rooms. This is no chain hotel - so it’s all ok - besides that wasn’t what I was looking for. The full English breakfasts were great. I would stay again.

I liked the price an check in was easy, the room was comfortable and adequate but in need of refurbishment, Breakfast was fine, Evening meal was quite poor, we ate at 6-30 on the Saturday evening three items on the menu were unavailable, my meal was fine, my wife's was terrible, they had the decency to deduct her meal from the bill which was good but going to bed hungry wasn't great, they had also run out of a couple of beers, the location is excellent but dont think we will be visiting again, I also wasnt keen of dogs in the dining room
