What attracted me to listing for 9 week rental:
Near ocean, easy to walk dogs in area, fenced in yard, hot tub.
Things I discovered upon moving in:
No hot tub, no fenced in yard. Poor internet quality – internet box in other unit and shared with this unit. Walking my dog first day surrounded by 2 dogs off leash in front of my house with owners standing in their yard watching, In addition, multiple other large dogs walking through yard off leash. Parked car right next to steps to ensure no incidents.
Owner/host lives in other side of duplex. No vacuum in unit - he gave me his. Bought mop to do floors.
Owner was uncommunicative and refused to take responsibility for issues with VRBO and Comcast. Internet took 4 calls and 19 days to resolve. Owner blamed VRBO for listing. Modular sofa kept coming apart in sections – would not stay hooked together. I put hair ties around legs to hold together. Always kept sofa covered with my own blankets.
Oven dirty/top units of stove very dirty – all smoking. Back screen slider partially ripped and covered with duct tape. Coffee maker indicator kept saying to clean it.
Food left in cabinet and freezer.
Front window came off track
Things I did for unit and before leaving.
Rolled up owner’s rug and got cheap one for dog.
Cleaned oven- replaced stovetop drip pans - provided by owner after notification.
Washed curtains, bedding, throw rugs, Made beds. Left 1 towel, 1 sheet, 2 placemats on floor to be cleaned.
