The cottage makes an ideal location for active guests who like hiking, cycling, geocaching and horse riding & there is never a dull day in Dartmoor National Park! The moor is on the doorstep (literally) and for most people this is the main attraction. The beaches are not far away and the Two Moors Way runs across the top of Wind Tor and this takes you right through to Exmoor. The two pubs (The Rugglestone and The Old Inn) in Widecombe do a thriving trade and are both well worth visiting. The Cafe on The Green in the village has a countywide reputation for great food, atmosphere and service. We have just installed a new kitchen which includes a Bosch induction hob, double oven and microwave. The dining area has beautiful views over the garden and open fields. The lockable garage is available for the storage of bikes and other activity equipment.
The accommodation consists of 1 twin bedroom, 1 double bedroom and a small box room suitable for a young child. There is a new fully equipped kitchen and diner, modern bathroom and living room. Off road parking for 2 cars, and 20 metres away further parking. The cottage and garden have stunning views across the Widecombe valley; there are guides to walks and rides from the doorstep, most of which take in a local pub. Birds, butterflies and bees can all be seen in the garden.
The garden is one of the main features of the cottage and it has benefited from a lot of investment over the years. In order for it to be maintained to a high standard, the gardener does need to attend regularly and because of the vagaries of the weather and the tight schedule he has to adhere to, we cannot always predict when he will arrive so we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. Hot pasties are for sale daily at the kiosk on the village green.
