Welcome to this private 2-bedroom apartment (approx. 800 sf / 74 m2) on the first floor of a two-story home in a convenient location. The apartment sleeps up to 5 people. There is a direct bus to New York City two blocks away. ALDI supermarket is only a few blocks away. There is also a laundromat within waking distance. You can park for free in the driveway (limit of one car). No parties, events, or smoking of any kind -- this is strictly enforced.

This is the entire first floor of a two-unit house.

The neighborhood is conveniently located. Bus to NYC is two short blocks away. You can park for free in the driveway (limit of one car).

This is a quiet and safe suburban neighborhood with good access to New York.

Two short blocks away from this house, there is NJ Transit Bus No. 115 that takes you to Port Authority Bus Terminal in New York City (Midtown Manhattan). The ride takes about 40 minutes. You can also drive easily around this area and there is plenty of parking. Walking/jogging in the neighborhood is also very easy.

Self check-in and check-out are available. I have a lockbox with keys at the entry door to the building. I will send you the code to the lock box on the day of your arrival.

The check-in window is 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm. If you are planning to arrive after 11:00 pm, you must clear this with me. I may not be available to support you during check-in if you arrive very late at night. I will not be able to issue any refunds if you have problems with check in after 11:00 pm.

Please also note that this apartment is located in an older house. Some recent guests have arrived with higher expectations than what we can provide given the age of the house and layout of the apartment. The apartment looks like the photos in the listing and we keep it clean. It is a basic space with basic amenities. If you are looking for a functional and competitively priced place close to New York City and Newark Airport EWR, this would be a good space for you. If you are looking for a modern and luxury stay, this is probably not the place for you.

We also just want to make clear that you are renting an apartment and not a hotel room. There are many differences between apartment rentals and hotels, and some newer guests may not realize it. Hotels are large and often have many rooms, and the ability to change your room should issues arise. Hotels also have staff 24/7 that can help you with every issue or questions that you may have. On the other hand, we are a small operation and manage our listings to the best of our ability. We try hard to create a good experience for our guests. We are including this disclaimer here because we have recently seen a rise in guests that seem to view our rentals as very similar to a hotel, but in reality it is quite different. Thank you in advance for understanding this.
Before you arrive you will be asked to complete guest verification through third-party provider Superhog. This is done to ensure we are keeping up-to-date with short-term rental regulations as well as providing both our guests and our properties with extra protection. Superhog will contact you via email and/or text to complete the verification. You will receive the email and/or text about 30 minutes after you confirm your booking. Please complete the verification prior to arriving at the property to enable a quick and easy check-in process. You will be given the choice between a refundable security deposit (administrative fee for this option is $10) or a non-refundable damage waiver (the cost is $35). This process is required. It is not optional. You will not be given access to the listing unless your status is "approved" from Superhog. You will need a valid credit card in order to complete this process. We are fully disclosing this here so that a guest cannot claim after booking that this was not disclosed. We will not give refunds for reservations if you choose not to comply or you are not approved.

Guests are responsible for bagging all garbage and placing the bags in the bins outside the building, or at the curb, as instructed by the host (host will communicate with guest regarding this).

Also, guests must leave the apartment in the condition they found it (e.g. no leftover food, nothing that creates a need for excessive or deep cleaning). Please wash all dishes that you use, remove food that you've brought in, and discard all trash. Our cleaning fee is lower than most and it covers basic cleaning tasks like washing of linens and towels, vacuuming, etc. The cleaning fee does not cover deep cleaning, excessive kitchen and bathroom cleaning, etc. Thanks for your cooperation!

If you check out late, there will be a $100 per hour fee for each hour or fraction of an hour that you stay beyond the check out time.

If you smoke, use incense, use drugs of any kind (including marijuana and cannabis) anywhere on the property including outside areas and common areas, we will charge a $300 fee. If there are damages related to smoking or drug use, we will charge fees in addition to this $300.

First, Andy was a great communicator. Check in instructions were very clear (as we arrived late at night). However, this listing says "sleeps 6". It does not sleep 6 adults. The 2 bedrooms were fine, but the sofa was not a traditional pullout sofa; it was an odd setup that literally kept falling over in the night. My husband and I tried to sleep on it (we are not large people) and it was treacherous. And btw, 5 pillows for 6 people? I had to use a bolster from the sofa wrapped in a towel as a pillow. The sofa is filthy! If it were replaced with an actual pullout sofa, this apartment would sleep 6. The space is very roomy, although we were only there overnight and left early the next morning. This is a first floor apartment, and I assume the 2nd floor is also short-term rental (VRBO). At 1:30 am, the family upstairs arrived and clumped around like elephants until 2:30 am. All 6 of us were awake that entire hour! Then at 8:00 am, a child began running back and forth. Certainly not Andy's fault, but maybe advise upstairs renters to be considerate. Not horrible, but not a great stay.
