Overall I did not feel like it was worth the price. Yes, this is an iconic hotel and the rooms were nice and most staff was nice. Food was excellent but was on par with this class of hotel, not above it. The carpeting in the hotel had stains all over it, furniture was chipped in the room, no floor length mirror, only one chair in the room (room had two beds), no coffee maker in the room. The biggest complaint I have is the doormen out front. They would only let guests through the door, which is understandable. However, when I identified myself as a guest that should have been enough, but some of the doormen would ask for a room key to prove my guest status which was over the top and made me feel unwelcome like they didn’t believe that I was a guest. This could have been handled much better. I expected more from a hotel with this reputation.
