Very comfortable stay.
Our stay was very good. The staff were pleasant, the room met all of our expectations and the location was excellent. Our only misgivings were a non-functioning coffee maker in our room coupled with occasionally finding the coffee urn in the convenience room also empty. It was also a bit of a surprise to arrive with a fully paid reservation and be met with a small facility charge.

This was a great hotel. Lovely location. I would definitely stay here again. It was exactly what we wanted. Close to the subway, walking distance to lots of great shopping a restaurants.

The location was nice. Great view to Empire State Building. They give you water bottles. Room cleaning showed up at 4:00 when we were back to change to evening attire, which was strange. You pay over 60 dollars for resort fee for bad coffee in the room which is such a sneaky move from their side. They don’t comment on it but treat it as a deposit if you break something, when you arrive. And then say they will not pay this back as it is a fee they collect. Hotels in the US: STOP doing this if you want happy visitors.

3rd stay at the Kixby. Love the location, rooms are nicely updated, although I don't recommend the lux king, layout was awkward/ cramped. Daily facility fee has increased ~25% since last time. To make guests feel better about being fleeced for $30/day for what amounts to coffee & water, you get a plastic (sigh) bottle upon check in to use for the Bevi water machine, which is first rate. Other amenities are specialty coffees (machine out of order), & fruit/cookies for 2 hrs in the afternoon when I imagine almost no one is around (the one day I was, they didn't serve them). I was in town for a trade show & had a couple pkgs sent to the hotel, for the first time at the Kixby or any other hotel, I was charged storage fees for the packages. I (used to) like hotels like the Kixby for the boutique, more personal vibe. Sadly this last stay service was very impersonal & left me feeling ripped off & unlikely to return. New York: please stop this deceptive pricing practice of "facility/resort" fees. When one researches hotels and evaluates suitability based on amenities like internet, fitness centre etc- if these come at an extra fee it should be indicated right on the amenity list, not buried where no one will see it, and if there's no option to opt out of the extra cost it should be included in the nightly rate. I was aware of the daily fee before checking in, but not that it had increased to $30, and the premise of it seems completely false. A boutique hotel without heart.

There is absolutely nothing bad to say about Kixby. The location is as safe as it gets,easy walking distance from Penn Station if you come in by LIRR/Airtrain from JFK(30 mins hassle free way to get into Manhattan) and the subway is 50 yards from the front door. There are the best selection of bars,restaurants and eateries within minutes of the hotel as well as Maddison Square Garden and the Empire State Building. All of the staff were friendly,helpful and informative,you get a free water bottle and access to fresh water and coffee on floor 2. The rooms are bigger than your average Manhattan hotel room and decorated to a high standard with comfortable beds and daily house cleaning Had no issues with elevator waiting times, which seems to be a regular issue on other hotel reviews. If there was one thing I’d ask the management to consider it would be extending the season for the Look Up bar on the roof. As the hotel is directly next to the Empire State Building the rooftop is amazing but closing in September seems too early. Having said that you can get a drink from the very smart hotel bar off the reception area and take it up to the Look Up but it’s a long round trip if you want a second drink, keep it open at least a month longer. We loved our stay and would highly recommend Kixby to anyone, we were there 5 nights and had no internal noise or other issues, obviously the exterior city noises will be heard everywhere, we found it perfect and would definitely stay again

I really liked it. Super clean and classy. The only complaint is that The Lookout was closed for the season. I don’t believe I was notified of that. Also, the keycards are tiny and were hard to use in the elevator. Nearly every guest had an issue.

Just OK. Smaller than photos, uncomfy pillows/bed
The good: great location, very friendly lobby staff, smooth check-in, quiet / non smelly hallways (we were on the 6th floor so wonder how quiet lower floors were due to a bar and restaurant on ground floor), very clean room, well-functioning A/C, nicely updated bathroom and furnishings. The bad: room was much smaller than it appeared in photos - just big enough for a king size bed, small desk, and small dresser (with a tiny fridge built into one of the drawers) with not much space to walk around, very tight bathroom, as well. Terribly uncomfortable pillows that we had a hard time sleeping on, and the bed wasn’t much better. No smart TV (it’s 2024 for goodness sake) and no microwave. For a room that is so small and ill-equipped that it’s only really good for sleeping in - the bed and pillows need to be top of the line for comfort to make up for it’s shortcomings. These were far from that. We were excited to leave so we could get back to our own bed. Would not stay here again and cannot recommend it in good conscience.

First time at Kixby--will absolutely choose it again. Decent sized rooms by NYC standards, nice & dark at night. Visit the roofdeck for a great view of the Empire State building. Steps to Herald Square subway stop
