Overall stay at this property was wonderful for amenities and cleanliness. Staff were impatient and largely unhelpful in times, and gave the impression they didn’t want to be there. Restaurant was beautiful and had really good food but very overpriced for portion sizes. Location close to transport and tourist sites. Payment of room was impractical and confusing, especially for international guests using an international form of payment - included predicted pre-authorisation payment of cost of stay upon arrival, then another payment of the actual cost at the end of stay. We stayed for 6 nights with a preauthorised payment of $2,500 and a payment of $1,800 at the end, leaving us now waiting up to 30 days for the return of our payment of $2,500. We had stayed at 4-5 other hotels during our trip and had not come across this method of payment before, so we were confused. I felt we asked politely for clarification on this, and the concierge became defensive and rude straight away, so was unimpressed by this when we were just asking for help, especially at 6am when we needed to get to the airport.

Great place to stay in NYC
Very nice property and so conveniently located! The room was a nice size and it appears that it was renovated in the recent past. Complimentary coffee is offered each morning and complimentary wine is offered at Happy Hour. No in room coffee and if you want a full breakfast, you need to go outside the hotel.

Unfortunate Stay
I’m writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay. I expected a clean, comfortable room and professional service, but my experience fell far below these standards. The staff’s attentiveness was lacking—I wasn’t greeted or assisted as I saw other guests were. A particularly troubling incident occurred when I asked the bellman where to wait for my Postmates order and was insinuated to be homeless. Such behavior is unprofessional and offensive. The room itself was disappointing, with bugs in the bathroom, stained or hairy towels, and missing amenities shown in your online photos. For the price I paid, I expected much higher standards of cleanliness and service. As a regular guest of Ritz-Carlton properties, I found this experience more reflective of a budget motel. I hope these concerns are addressed, as I’m hesitant to return based on this stay.

I liked the attentiveness from the staff and how they was very helpful and made you feel welcomed. I loved the design and the all around vibe of the hotel from the doors to the wallpaper to the fixtures. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, we hada street view which i loved and the noise didn't bother me at all. We will definitely be back.

The Kimpton Staff was very professional and accommodating. We stayed for an entire week, they kept the room clean and their social happy hour was a great way to meet other guests staying at the Kimpton.

Decent, but not worth the price
Stay was decent. For the cost of this stay, I will say that was not worth it all. Spent close to $1500 and wasn’t worth the price tag. Paid for a premium room, high floor….the first room was filled with gnats and fruit floors and was extremely humid even with the AC running. Left the room for a little after killing a few gnats and hoping the AC running for a little while exploring NYC would help. It did not help at all, came back to the room after dinner and gnats were still everywhere and the room was not any cooler. Went down and asked to switch rooms, was first offered for an engineer to come spray the room or to move rooms. Opted to switch rooms like we originally wanted, got switch to a room that was not similar to the one that was originally booked. Not a huge deal considering we just needed a place to sleep, but considering the hefty cost to stay at this hotel I do not think it was worth it with the several issues we had. Also the bathroom in our new assigned room was dirty, hair all over the shower and floor. Hair pieces on the bed and comforters as well and extremely dusty.

Pros: very attentive staff at our arrive, he was very professional, the room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was awesome… room size good for ny standards, a/c works pretty well ( little noisy but didn’t matter to us). The cleaning service made the room everyday. Cons: The elevators…. They were three but I only see two of them in service…the elevators we’re having problems the day when we were leaving… we had to use the stairs from the third floor to the lobby with our luggage through the stairs… other than it’s an amazing property. The lady with the glasses at the checkout wasn’t nice at all. Ps. The transportation to the airport was very convenient and hustle free.
