This was far from the cheapest hotel we could have picked in Manhattan, but it feels like it should have been. The rooms were absolutely tiny with no storage space for cases or clothes for 4 people. There were only 2 lifts for 32 floors which is frankly ridiculous, there was often a 30 minute wait to get in a lift. The breakfast room was far too small for the size of hotel and consequently it was permanently packed full of people and no possibility to sit and eat. The food quality was also poor compared to other Hampton properties we’ve stayed in. The staff were friendly enough, but honestly I couldn’t get past how poor everything else was.

At first check in, our room had to AC running. Room was hot. Shower door off track as well. Requested a repair as soon as possible or a new room. Came back hrs later and room was still hot AC not working and no news about any attempt to repair. Night attendant helped me get a new room that was very nice with a working AC.

The first room 1505 had BLACK mold in the shower, Mildew and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom and sleeping area, Outlets were loose and pushed back into the wall and were too loose to hold your cord. Could only charge phones in one outlet. Unsafe elec. Moved to 1805 and not much better. Table between beds was falling off the wall, sink, toilet and shower were all slow to drain/flush and the last day the toilet did not flush. Food was poor.

Trying to go up or come down from your room was terrible. None of the ice machines work other than the one on floor C. All of the signs by the machines say Ice and water. They should at least say not working. Also the front desk should tell you where you can get ice and water. We found out by another guest that has been on all floors looking for a machine that worked. We were disappointed because the standards were not up to the standards we've come to expect from Hampton Inn. Would not recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Hampton Inn. Even though one of the elevators was down the staff went out of their way to try and get everyone where they needed to go.

Excellent staff! Very comfortable bed! Very clean room. One elevator broken which left one elevator for over 30 floors! Long waits or you had to climb stairs! Breakfast area small and crowed!

Front desk personnel were very nice and helpful. The man at the breakfast was so helpful. We wished the rooms had microwaves. Definitely need better pillows. Room was clean just needed some updates (toilet had crack and trash can coming apart). The big con was the elevators. If cleaning crew had their own elevator it would solve that problem. Location was good and we would stay again.

The hotel itself is actually totally ok for a lower priced hotel in Manhattan. The location is ideal if you want to be in the midst of it all. An issue encountered: One of the two elevators was out of service whilst my short stay there. A fully booked hotel with 32 floors with each floor having like 8 rooms, that makes for quite long lines and quite some waiting time for the elevator to arrive. Or, depending on your floor, a good work-out to get from the lobby to your room. Maybe management could consider reimbursing guests that stayed there during this period a small fee for the inconvenience?

The lifts were so slow for a hotel with 32 floors taking up valuable time. The room size for a family of 4 with 8 suitcases (4 large & 4 mini cases) was not ideal but we had to improvise by moving things around. Staff at breakfast could have been more friendly. Outdated and hotel is in need of modernisation. Overall very average at best.
