Real gaslamps greet you at Sweet Emma's Hideaway, an award-winning restoration, the only property in NOLA designated a "Flagship Vacation Property," honoring the groundbreaking black female 1st bandleader of Preservation Hall.
As you open the front door, discover how 13-foot ceilings downstairs allowed installation of balconies and shutters inside to bring the French Quarter right into the living room, and an art-deco bar and pool table create a Flapper-Era New Orleans Billiards Club!
Gilded candelabras highlight elegant a dining space that could accommodate a Royal Feast. The professionally-equipped aspiring-chef’s kitchen features modern appliances seamlessly integrated with 1920’s art deco throwbacks. Before you do any cooking, take the quick walk to Rouse’s market, a NoLa landmark, which specializes in providing the newest recipes and accompanying ingredients from all of New Orleans’ world-renown chefs.
The downstairs bedroom is well-separated and sound-insulated, with its own en-suite full bath. A ½-bath downstairs serves common area guests and another ½-bath serves the garden courtyard with covered patio, five-burner outdoor grill/wetbar, pool, jacuzzi, gas firepit, and lounge and bistro seating. Don’t forget to pick up some grill-worthy gulf prawns while you’re at Rouse’s!
Back inside, the butterfly staircase leads to 12-foot ceilings upstairs, a reading nook with coffee/tea station, and desk space with ultra high-speed internet. Four bedrooms on the upper floor (and the bedroom downstairs as well) are adorned with jacquard-sateen comforters, 800 thread-count sheets, and featherbed toppers over firm mattresses creating sleeping comfort our guests refer to as “the cocoon.” The upstairs bedrooms all have direct access to full, oversized bathrooms. Architecturally-unique 10-foot bottom-slide windows from two of the bedrooms open to the full-width balcony, where you can sip your mint julep shaded by a 100-year-old Oak tree.
Intentionally chosen for its ideal location—Less than 10 minutes’ walk to the French Quarter, Superdome, National WWII Museum, Cruise Terminal, Convention Center, Riverboat Jazz Brunches, Harrah’s Casino, the Aquarium of the Americas, Mardi Gras World, just to name a few, surrounded by so many top restaurants within 2 blocks that you may never even get on the St Charles Streetcar (1 block away from the house)—but on a quiet street allowing peaceful repose after an eventful day or in preparation for a night-on-the-town, Sweet Emma’s Ragtime Royale honors the first bandleader of Preservation Hall, Sweet Emma Barrett, simultaneous breaker of color and gender barriers in music history, with her photos reverently displayed astride the record player.

BATHROOMS: The listing sites have no way to count 2 half-bathrooms separately. They have instructed us to check "full bath" for one so that their system will correctly display the bathroom count, and then place a note here accurately stating that bathrooms are as follows:
a) Three full bathrooms: two upstairs with direct access from each bedroom, plus one in the downstairs bedroom.
b) One 1/2 bath downstairs to serve the common areas.
c) One "Cabana Bath"--1/2 bath outside for the pool / courtyard.
PARKING: Free and safe street parking is always available directly in front of, within 1/2-block of the house.
CLEANING FEE ALSO INCLUDES:

*enough TP/Paper towels to start your visit
RESORT FEE provides:
*heated pool & jacuzzi
*propane for the grill & firepit
POOL AND JACUZZI CLEANING:
Guest fees include full cleaning, sanitizing, heating, and routine maintenance/chemical check of the hot tub and pool.
Non-routine cleaning sanitizing, or maintenance needed due to guest misuse (cleaning that requires any draining of the pool or hot tub, e.g. alcohol spills or "personal accidents") will be charged $300 against the security deposit.
Cleaning requiring full draining (e.g. glass breakage in the pool) will be charged $600 plus the next night's rental rate, since we cannot rent the property that coming night.
If you let us know about a spill, accident, etc. so that our staff can be ready to take care of it, we will deduct 10% from the security deposit charge as a thank you for your honesty. If you let us know with enough time to correct the problem without losing the next night's rental, we will not charge that to you.
Security Cameras are on the outside of the house, and are recording during a reservation, NO cameras are inside the home or have a view of the inside of the house.
Noise detection sensors installed at the property – These devices monitor decibel levels at the property 24 hours a day and automatically notify us if noise levels are too high.
