Very beautiful, the weekend was was horrific! The property across the street was not only loud but the beds shook - to their defense they did offer ear plugs to help with the noise but I’ll never stay here again.

Our family enjoyed our stay at the British Colonial! Our corner room had windows on two walls and even though it said "garden view" we had a great view of the harbor and all the cruise ships coming in. Our stay was pleasantly quiet (possibly because we were at the end of a hall). The bathroom had a shower stall and tub. We enjoyed the grandeur of the entrance and historical photos and artifacts displayed in the hallways. We spent a lot of time in the pools and the ocean. The water was fairly calm since it is in the harbor, and we appreciated that the water was roped off. There was great outdoor seating and some water equipment like paddle bike and kayaks. Wished we had seen the beach volleyball court earlier! The front door crew were always helpful and there was always a line of taxis waiting outside, which was really convenient. We will absolutely stay at the British Colonial on our next trip as it was really just overall convenient to getting out, seeing the city or catching tours, and the private beach. Most of the area closes at 5 when the cruise ships leave, so the area is not busy at night.

We stayed at the British Colonial for a week. It is a beautiful historic building in downtown Nassau with a grand staircase and is near shopping, restaurants and historic sites. It had nice Christmas decorations and lots of seating in and around the lobby and outside to people watch. Pool and beach area was well kept and faced cruised ships coming in and out. Our room was on the 2nd floor and we did not know we would have to go up stairs when we got off the elevator. We had to drag our luggage up about 6 stairs to get into the area with the rooms. The safe did not work and a nice security guy came and tried to fix it. It worked for a bit, then died. Security came again the second day and replaced the batteries and it worked after that. We ate at three of the hotel's restaurants and also bought food in the to go market. Most of the food was nothing special and overpriced. The sushi restaurant was good, but we waited a long time to get our meal and watched people seated after us get their food first. However, when the sushi chef realized the orders were mixed up he gave me a complimentary sushi roll to make up for the wait. The breakfast buffet was not good and we only ate there once. The pancakes were cold and hard, and had been sitting there for who knows how long. The eggs had no flavor and flies buzzed all over the bagels and other breads. The hotel is a good option to be near downtown, but we had better food at the Baha Mar resort and a couple of restaurants downtown.

Bahamas meh!
Hotel is nice but the area it is in is not nice. Getting food after 4:30pm is such a challenge. The downtown port are is very dirty and crowded. You are basically stuck at the hotel. The hotel is nice but showing its age in many ways.
