Alamo Motor Inn
3/5 Okay
"I wished I could have given a higher rating for this hotel as it is clean and well maintained and conveniently located. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the customer service. Prior to checking in, I received an email requesting payment be made in advance if arriving after 7pm. I called to inquire why I couldn't pay with a credit card since that's how I had reserved the room, I received an unwelcome lecturing tone referring me to the email and bluntly telling me they have "rules for a reason". Given I had just stopped by the side of the highway during a seven hour drive and had only briefly glanced at the long email, it seemed unnecessarily blunt. I would have chosen somewhere else to stay except that I was concerned my credit card would be charged. So I went ahead and checked in, which was easy to do. I then sent an email requesting to extend my checkout by half an hour the following morning due to having an overseas business conference call that might run over. I was told that checkout is promptly at 10am and if guests have not checked out by 10.01am they are charged $100 per additional hour. I was offered a rate of $50 for a half hour late checkout, which was presented to me as if they were being generous. I declined and went to the public library for my conference call, which of course was free. The grudging and ungenerous attitude seemed as if I was being an inconvenience by staying at their hotel. Needless to say I will not be returning. "
