Lapwing Cottage has a real Northumbrian theme throughout, and is one of four cottages uniquely positioned offering private access to the River Coquet should you wish to go salmon or trout fishing (licence required). Renovated in 2018, Lapwing Cottage is a beautiful detached barn conversion offering tasteful rooms and plenty of Northumbrian touches throughout, with open plan living and a huge super kingsize bed that can be changed to a twin on request. The sofa bed in the living room is handy for an additional child or adult. The light and airy living space has a modern electric fire and pretty, large arch window on the gable end where you can sit and watch the wildlife in this tranquil setting. The extensive grounds are landscaped, with a small patio area to the front, ideal for relaxation. The friendly owners are nearby should you need anything during your stay and are happy to advise on days out.
There is a great restaurant with a railway carriage theme nearby at Weldon Bridge, less than a mile away, with great ales and a friendly ambience. The historic town of Morpeth is only 9 miles away with an array of pubs, wine bars, shops and cafés. Rothbury, a quieter market town, is only 6½ miles where you will find the vast National Trust property of Cragside House and Gardens, well worth a visit during your stay. The cottage is ideally located for all the link roads should you wish to visit Alnwick Castle and the Northumbrian Heritage Coast only a few miles away. Beach 12 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
