Ascella wines is very special place with gorge views and the owners, Barb and Jeff, were very hospitable and welcoming. They made the trip very enjoyable. The place is very clean and comfortable. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend it.
The "cottage" is located in a beautiful secluded area of the vineyard overlooking the beautiful Hunter Valley.
The cottage is outdated and could do with a good clean up.
2 days prior to our arrival I called the owner who was lovely and acknowledged the presence of our 6 month old baby and confirmed. Unfortunately upon our arrival we had no appropriate bed for her. There must have been a misunderstanding but this made us checking out a day early.
We were greeted with a breakfast hamper which was lovely but would recommend people getting their own breakfast. It was a genuinely nice gesture however not sufficient or suitable for breakfast. We were also given a tub ofbfrsh strawberry yoghurt which we were told was a little bit out of date. I'm not fussy but it was almost a month out of date. For dairy products this is a "bit" much.
We had just a wonderful time at Ascella and quickly decided to become a "friend" of the winery. Everyone was so nice, and Ned the sheepdog fit right in. It's a great place to stay while in the Hunter as it's far enough out of the hectic area to be quite quiet and yet easy to travel into those more touristy spots. Certainly recommended.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
Nice relaxing stay
The property owners were welcoming but the facilities of the cottage could be much improved for the stay. The mattresses were not comfortable (sagging) and there was a lack of basic kitchen items. For example, there was no carving knife, no chopping board, no basic cutlery items such as a peeler. The oven did not work. For the cost of the accommodation, the level of comfort could be improved. There was no outdoor lighting even though a barbecue was provided.
