About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Summer and Fall Dates Available!

Our home is exactly what you're hoping for! Here are the 9 reasons this home stands out from the others.

1) TRULY BEACHFRONT. Not 'close to beachfront' or 'ocean view.' Your backyard is made of sand, and there is nothing between the house and the ocean except our own sandy beachfront lot. Our lot is 250 feet long, and other than our house and pool, it's all sand!

2) HUGE PRIVATE POOL. One of the largest in the area. Most pools in our area are considered 'plunge pools.' Ours is possibly the largest private pool in the entire region. It is 40 feet long and 16.5 feet wide (12 meters x 5 meters). It also includes a children's area that is knee-deep for adults and perfect for toddlers and young children.

3) THE AMENITIES YOU NEED TO STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE WORLD: DirecTV (with all the premium movie channels) and Free Wireless Internet!

4) A UNIQUELY DESIGNED, WELL-BUILT HOUSE WITH AIR CONDITIONING in both bedrooms. Most homes in this area are older 'box' homes that are 20-50 years old. Our home was built in 2004 with top-shelf building materials, including a lot of tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms. It has a unique architectural design, including 3 beautiful columns that support a shaded back patio overlooking the ocean.

5) EASY ACCESS from Cancun or Merida. Cancun is a 3.5-hour comfortable, inexpensive bus ride from Merida on a major highway, and Merida is only 30 minutes away. Our home is located in Chuburna, the best (most tranquil, best beach, the closest location to the bigger towns) location on the coast north of Merida. It's 15 minutes to Progreso, which has a large (Wal-Mart-owned) 'everything' store and a cruise ship pier and Malecon that you can see from our beach! McDonalds, Starbucks, Home Depot, Wal-Mart and more are only 30 minutes from your door in Merida.

6) SAFETY. We're in the state of Yucatan, which is absolutely, positively the safest location in all of Mexico. Look it up. Check the stats. It's safer than Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and where we live in the USA.

7) OUR HOUSE IS NOT LOCATED ON A HIGHWAY. We live on a quiet, sandy street. Many homes in this area are located right on the major highway that passes by. If you have dogs, or children, or just want to take a peaceful walk from your house, it may not be possible from many homes in this region. We also have a fenced-in backyard that provides a little extra peace of mind for those of us with pets and small children- no need to worry about them wandering off with the fenced-in yard!

Just a few years ago we were looking for a rental home for our family to spend some extended, quality time together. During our time on the coast north of Merida, we visited all the towns and many homes. After seeing all of the coasts, we felt that Chuburna was the ideal location because of its beautiful beach and proximity to Progreso and Merida.

When we discovered that our current home was for sale, we knew there would never be a better location for a beach home. The only thing it was missing was a pool! So we added a huge pool in the backyard, and now we have the perfect home on the beach!

Our house was built to North American standards, including heavy construction, plenty of excellent lighting, and 3-prong electrical outlets everywhere in the house.

We have 2 large bedrooms. The first is a master bedroom with king king-size bed (Spring Air Mattress), its own bathroom, and its own door to the patio and beach. The second bedroom has two double beds, and both bedrooms have their own new A/C unit with remote control.

The kitchen and living area have an open floor plan. The kitchen has tile countertops, plenty of space, and a small bar that overlooks the kitchen. The living area has comfortable sofas and a full dining room table and chairs.

Most importantly, this entire home is built with incredible beach, pool, and ocean views, and it all leads to your perfect oceanfront location! We have outdoor chairs for adults and children, beach loungers, and a full patio chair and table set.

Our yard is completely made of sand. In the front yard, we have a number of coconut trees and a banana tree. The backyard is the same. Feel free to take a nap on the sand under your beachfront coconut tree!

This home is all about the beach, ocean, pool, and being outside. It's about relaxation and rejuvenation. You'll never take a vacation that is more stress-free than having your own beachfront home with a private pool in a cute Mexican beach town!

In Chuburna, you'll find a number of convenience stores and small restaurants serving some of the best seafood you'll ever taste....and it's all just a short walk down the sandy streets from your home!

The house was clean. We arrived on the heels of Hurricane Milton so the sea wall was collapsed which we didn’t mind. The beds were incredibly hard and the pillows were awful. The biggest issue was all the locks in the house. It took us more than 15 minutes to get front door opened since it was so corroded and once we closed it we could never get it open due to the lock, even with the key inside. The property manager blew off our concerns saying the wood was swollen but it wasn’t the wood. It was the lock. We ended up going in and out through patio door once we got padlock off. It was so corroded we were afraid to lock it again. We locked it on leaving and left the key in lock box but property manager had to cut it off, claiming we had not left key but we did leave the one that we had used to open it. The master bedroom door was not able to be opened due to corrosion so no airflow. We had to delay our arrival by a day due to hurricane and was refunded for that day which was nice.

Amazing, refreshing family holiday! We loved this quiet, private beach front property. Pool was well maintained. Property manager met us on initial check in! Great places to eat within walking distance and there was fruit and vegetables at a local market. Bedrooms (2) comfortable with air conditioner in each room. The locals were helpful and friendly.Would definitely recommend this site if you're looking for a relaxing, private getaway.

Chuburna is a small village. It is quiet and safe. You can walk to some restaurants. You will need a car to see the surrounding area and get supplies. The house is OK, needing a few repairs. It has what you need per appliances, dishes, linens, etc. Pool is great. Ocean is warm. Beach is very small but you can sit in the yard on sand. A few mosquitos at dusk, but not bad.

Not really this property
We had booked a 10 night stay, but overnight our second night there a storm took out the power line at the pole. Which needed the power company to fix. The property manager Li was awesome, and had us in a larger, still beachfront house within a couple hours and we had a nice vacation Li also arranged for a rental car for us and delivered it. Couldn’t ask for more

Slice of Paradise
The house and pool were wonderful. The beach area was small, but perfect for two people. The place is very quiet and very relaxing. Our flight was late in arriving on a Friday night but Lee was very patient waiting for us. The night we arrived the whole town was without power! The house was quite warm but once we opened up the sliding door and windows, it was tolerable. We spent a lot of time floating/swimming in the pool and ocean. The pool was very clean when we arrived and on Thursday of our stay the pool guy came and cleaned it up again. It gets very hot in the kitchen when you cook! The AC works well in the bedroom at night for a very comfortable nights sleep. The TV in the main bedroom did not work, but they are replacing it. The only thing I might suggest is putting in another ceiling fan/light right where the couch is. It got pretty warm in there at night while watching TV. Overall, this is a wonderful place to stay with great people to help you out with whatever you may need. I would highly recommend this property to anyone and I do look forward to returning here myself. It truly is a slice of PARADISE!

Stress-free week
My husband and I stayed for a week at Casa Pelicano. We were looking for a quiet spot with a nice pool and easy beach access. Casa Pelicano delivered - the pool was refreshing and only steps from the gulf. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and close to the Chuburna town center. Also a short drive to the many restaurants in Chelem. The size of the house was perfect for the two of us, and Veronica (the property manager) was very responsive any time we needed to reach out. Overall I would recommend Casa Pelicano to couples looking for a restful beach vacation!

Great vacation time!
The property in General is great, the best part o the house is the pool and the beautiful view to the ocean. This made our days wonderful and also to ignore the little things I will improve from the house. As long as they take in consideration our observations it will make the house to receive 5 stars in all the areas. I think the house need a hand to remodelate some aspects of the house to keep it in shape which I already reported to Veronica. Actually Veronica who is the admin and took care of all of our requests shared with me that it is time to change the furniture of the house. Again it is very important to keep the furnitures in good conditions please to avoid any accident. Me and my family spent 9 wonderful days at this beach house. My last observation and this may be addressed with the local government is that the system to pick up the garbage is terrible, a lot of trash bags are sitting outside the houses of the town and it takes days for the truck to pick up the garbage. I visited other places or towns around Merida and they were very clean. For the town of Chuburna I highly recommend to address this issue with the local government since it makes the surrounding areas and towns look bad. Other than all the above I recommend this house to spend time with friends and family. The neighbors are really nice and gentle. Thanks Veronica and Gina for all your assistance and hope to visit your house again in one of our future trips to Merida.

Relaxing beach/pool retreat
My husband and I spent our anniversary here for 8 days, Gina the owner was very responsive and her on-site managers were right on top of things, met us at 8pm on a Saturday night to get us checked in. Gina recommended a service to drive to/from the airport, Carlos and Vikki at Expat Services made this really easy, I would highly recommend contacting them. The house itself is adequate, for the money a good deal, but I would have liked to have A/C in the living room, it was only in the bedrooms so at night when we wanted to watch some Movies, it was quite hot. One more unit in the living room would have made a big difference in my opinion. The master bed was comfortable, we slept great. The outdoors is where the property shines, the pool and beach were really nice, every morning we would go out and feed the fish in the built-in reefs, knee deep you can watch them and even feed out of your hands. Restaurants were great, there are probably 8 or so restaurants within a 5 block radius, we tried several and they were all really good, even had some lobster for lunch! Side note, before you go to the house, go to the store first, there is no shampoo or soap, or paper towels/napkins, we had to use the hand soap the first day in our shower. We left our stuff behind when we left so hopefully someone else could use it. Bugs were not a huge problem outdoors but bug spray was nice to have, we did end up using it as we got a couple of bites, but not nearly as bad as other places we’ve visited. Overall this is a great place and I would definitely return.

Wonderful winter getaway
This is a wonderful and very practical beach house located in a quiet and friendly town about 40 min away from Merida and 20 minutes from puerto progreso where you can drive for food supplies or to spend the day in el Malecón. The house is fully equipped, the kitchen with everything you need to cook on a daily basis. It has a great pool where you can cool off. Nothing beats the beautiful beach setting right in front of the pool... a few steps from the door of the house. The beach is beautiful and very calm in the mornings, just perfect for a morning swim or kayaking. It is additionally Filled with sea shells, something that the kids and I really enjoyed ! When we arrived we were met at the door by the administrator. She gave us a tour of the house and handed the keys and made herself available in case we needed anything. The house has an alarm system which makes you feel safe, although the town in itself is friendly and quiet and I believe it is a safe place on its own. The administrator and owner were friendly and on top of things when something was needed. My family and I really enjoyed our stay and would probably return to the same home should we decide to vacation again in Chuburna!

Dead cockroaches, broken door, cold showers with no water pressure and an unresponsive manager.
When we arrived we found 4 LARGE dead cockroaches in the bathroom. We contacted the owner and the manager and were met with sincere apologies, but no recourse. There was no offer of a discount, a cleaning, or any type of recourse. The manager agreed to meet us the next morning to discuss the broken door and also the property details as we had arrived late and didn't get an opportunity to meet the night before. The manager did not show up. An hour after our appointment we cancelled as we had other plans. The property is serviceable at best. The couch is old and uncomfortable. The patio furniture lacks cushions. If you like sitting on ROCK hard chairs. (only 3 of them). The blinds in the bedroom are paper and taped on so you cant even open them. The windows are so dirty, you wouldn't want to anyway. Gates to the backyard and the water are broken and dont open properly. Overall VERY DISAPPOINTING.

The perfect getaway
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with this property. It is peaceful and private, and very safe and secure. We found the master bed to be very comfortable, and the full kitchen was great for cooking our own meals. Of course, the pool is wonderful for cooling off, and you can walk right out to the beach and collect shells. The nearest town to buy supplies for the house and kitchen is Progresso, a 20 minute drive. There are local little 'corner stores' in Chuburna, but they only carry very simple treats and very basic things. We enjoyed renting the car that can be provided for this home. All in all, a great experience staying here, and we would definitely love to return!

Great little beach house
This is a great little beach house located in the quiet fishing village of Chuburna Puerto, about 40 mins outside of Merida. In August when we stayed the water colour in the Gulf of Mexico was amazing. The water is flat calm in the morning, ideal for stand up paddling or swimming/snorkeling until the thermal breeze comes in any time from midday onwards with its welcome cooling effect and absolutely fantastic for windsurfing or kiteboarding (although there is not much space for launching a recovering a kite here - better to drive down to the Playon as the locals call it just east of the fishing port where you can drive your vehicle right on to the beach). The thermals bring white capping conditions, probably around a force 4. The house is cozy and as advertised although, like us, you will most likely spend more time outside in the sea, on the terrace or in the very generously sized swimming pool. The property has some tall coconut palms, two of which provide welcome shade to the pool area in the morning hours. Be careful not to sit or stand directly under the coconuts, a family member had a near-miss with a falling coconut! The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and sensibly beach functional, in August it was nice to have AC in the bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped and we made use of it. The large fridge with ice and water dispenser from the purified water jug is a very welcome feature. Despite being the height of summer season the area was not crowded, with only Sunday seeing a nice little influx of friendly local families enjoying bathing in the sea. We arranged a boat trip and the captain picked us up right in front of the house - we really recommend this as it show you a side of the area that you wouldn't see from the land. He took us to the little fishing port to the west of Chuburna and then further west to a lovely little area of flats and mangroves where we saw flamingos, cormorants and snowy egrets among other birds. Pelicans make frequent fly-bys and we spied lots of spotted eagle rays and even a sea turtle only a few hundred feet off the beach. There are a series of sand bars off the beach, so the water goes a little deeper and then much shallower again, it is well worth going out deeper as the water tends to be clearer further from the shore. We ate all our meals on the terrace which is furnished with a white plastic table and chairs - so ideal for wet bathing suits and super easy to clean plus great sea view

We had a fantastic stay at Gina & Matt’s beach home in March. The property is on a quiet beach front area of Chuburna, with a choice of mini supermarkets and restaurants within minutes walking. The house had everything we needed, from the air con in the bedrooms to the valuables safe and as for the pool, just divine!!!! The locals smiled, spoke to us and we felt very safe. Thanks to Gina for processing our booking and answering questions so promptly, Ken (property manager) and Merida Expat Services who were our airport pick up and tour heroes. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to revisit.

The view really is as good as it looks
This is a well equipped and nicely furnished villa with surprisingly good wifi. Most of all, it has a lovely pool and a sea view to die for. So, all in all, a very nice property in a great location. Added to that, the property manager could not be more helpful. The owners, who are a dream to deal with, provide a comprehensive guide to the area – though it ought to add if you order lunchtime drinks most of the local restaurants cover your table with small plates of food for free, and you should eat early to be sure of finding somewhere of an evening. We would have hoped for more than only two wine glasses, could not find a corkscrew and would have liked more than two sun loungers. But that is no reason not to recommend and to know we’d do it again, at the drop of a sun hat, if we could

Peaceful Paradise
We spent six wonderful weeks in this cozy little beach house. It's situated in a sleepy little fishing village which we found to be very welcoming. The local people are incredibly friendly and very patient with our limited spanish. Lots to do here. The ruins at Uxmal were incredible and a "must see". We stayed the night there and went early in the morning which really helped in terms of the heat. The Mayan museum was outstanding and reasonably priced . (There is a snack bar on the second floor. It takes a while to see the whole thing.) Dziblcaltun is also excellent and close offering it's own museum as well as ruins (hire a guide) and a very refreshing a beautiful cenote. (Bring your suit the water is warm and super clear.) More than anything we loved just hanging out at Casa Pelicano and taking in the cool breeze and gorgeous (beyond belief) view. Listening to the wind rustling the coconut palms and the Melodious Blackbirds was a treat! It was a bit cool for swimming when we arrived in Jan so we just went and did other things till the weather warmed up. Loved doing laps in the pool and just hanging on the edge watching the ocean. The property manager, Tatiana, was a tremendous asset. We really felt we had a new friend in her. Go, you will like it! Thanks Matt and Gina

The most amazing view from the chaise lounge!
We stayed in this property over the Christmas holiday. The view is just as good or better than the picture! The house is modest, and arriving at night with rather harsh lighting, we were a bit disappointed. But, in the light of day, and with the outside being nothing short of spectacular, we soon grew to love the house and found it to be well stocked. The brand new house manager, Tatiana, was amazing and dealt with any concerns we had right away (like a suddenly dead toaster!). We appreciated the lock down aspect of the house as we felt it was secure at night, and we also felt comfortable leaving the house during the day. The owners also provide a little safe for passports et al. This is a perfect property for a restful, quiet, private, beautiful holiday.
