Quinta Rufino is a dump, Expedia should drop it
This place is a dump, disgusting, depressing, ugly, dirty, run down.... there are not enough negative synonyms in the thesaurus to describe this pseudo guest house. The mattress was soiled, reeked of old sweat. And since they dont use fitted sheets, most probably you will wake up in the morning lying directly on top of this sticky, smelly mess. The bathroom is deplorable. The shower drain sits outside the shower area! Water runs through a hole in the base towards the bathroom floor drain. I never bothered to get breakfast, since the area where they serve it is repugnant. The last night the water heater broke so I had to shower with cold water, and the temperature outside was in the low 60's. Mendoza is high in the pre-Andes, so weather is pretty cold year round. The only non negative thing I can say about this dump is that it has a fairly good location, although there are many hotels around that seemed nice and which cost similarly (Quinta Rufino is NOT a cheap guest house!!) The staff is made up of young, hippie like guys who are nice to you but are oblivious to anything that's going around. If you stay here willingly you should have your head examined. Expedia should drop this listing.

Very good location. The staff (specially the girl) was very nice, helpful and welcoming. The room and facilities were comfortable-nice. However it was dissappointing to find dirty bed sheets. We asked for new bedsheets and the guy gave us some that were smaller than the size of the bed (we were lazy to ask again for others and make our own bed at midnight so we slept on the smaller ones), still not right.

Where hospitality trumps comfort
Good location, but then again almost every place in Mendoza is since it's such a walkable city. It's an old building and it shows. It needs some TLC. but the saving grace is the staff.

A sad stay
This should be called a Hostel and not B&B there is 4 beds in a room that should be two, the bath room was disgusting and there was no hot water, the breakfast was tea and coffee and bread no butter or jam. However the staffs were quite helpful.

No frills is the word here
This is very much a budget hotel - it's very basic, but certainly enough if all you're looking for is a bed for the night in your own room. The term "bed and breakfast" is a bit misleading it has to be said as the "breakfast" consists only of tea and coffee - with the diciest looking milk I've ever seen. I've done the budget hotel thing before and you get a roll of bread or bowl of cereal at the very least, so this is a disappointment. The fittings are a bit old - for instance, the shower nozzle in my particular room fell out of the wall when I tried to adjust the direction of it. The room itself was nice enough, and the staff for the most part are pretty good. I wonder if they could think of a better way to allow guests access to the hotel once you've checked in though - when I was there you had to keep buzzing the bell and the person on reception had to walk down the driveway each time to open the gate to let you in. This must surely be as annoying for the receptionist as unusual it is for the guest to experience. If you can cope with a no-frills hotel, then by all means stay here, but you might actually consider paying a bit less and staying at a hostel and receiving more or less the same type of accommodation

Backpackers only, and only if you're desperate!
This place is really grim and nowhere near up to the 3 stars they claim. From the outside it looks ok, but inside it's gloomy and dingy. They put me in room 9, which is off the foyer, so people were coming and going noisily until 2 in the morning, and the door had a frosted glass window above it and the corridor light was on all night, so the room wasn't dark. The bed was really uncomfortable, you could feel the springs in the mattress. The bathroom was cramped, to sit on the loo you had to put your feet in the shower tray! 'Breakfast' was an insult. Two things in its favour. If you're in a group and looking for a cheap place to stay, it's definitely cheap. And it's right in the centre of the city, near Plaza de Italia. But honestly, I'd give it a miss. I stayed one night, because I arrived late in the day, and found somewhere else for the rest of my stay, even tho I'd paid in advance. Find somewhere else in this beautiful city!

Decently-priced option close to restaurants
It's shabby chic. But the staff were very friendly and helpful. No AC, which is vital during the summer months. It's in a great location--quiet neighborhood, close to great restaurants and wine bars.

It's a hostel
this wasn't a 'bed and breakfast' i was expecting, especially when you walk up to the establishment, and their sign says 'Hostel.' perhaps my expectations were a bit out of whack but for the amount we paid, i did expect a little more. this isn't their fault per se as it would be more accurate if Hotels.com had them rated as a 2-star. Security: decent. they lock the outer gate at night, so that was good. Amenities: sheets were thread bare, towels were completely frayed on all 4 edges. Beds were lumpy and the pillows were about 2" thick at best. (i could only pray that everything was clean, but there's just no way of really knowing.) There is no AC, and no bars or screen on the window, so we weren't comfortable opening them at night, so we baked. the fan in the room didn't help much at all. the wifi was terribly spotty. i won't mention breakfast as there really wasn't anything to mention. we walked around the corner to a bakery that had delightful pastries and sandwiches. Location: not bad. it was fairly close to the city center and restaurants - all within walking distance. in the end, i really don't think this place is 3-stars. it should be 2, at most.

Cheap and cheerful in Mendoza
A cheap and cheerful base for exploring Mendoza, and further afield ie Aconcagua National Park. My room (9) was a little noisy at times, being nearest the front desk, and there was the odd cockroach in the bathroom, but nothing a seasoned traveller hasn't dealt with before. Thanks to the gorgeous Natalia for patiently translating things for me with my broken Spanish, and helping me arrange my expedition. Will definitely return - good value, and happy companeros!

We would stay there again.
The hostel was as other reviews had mentioned, was not fancy but very comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights. There was a king size bed in our room that was soft yet supportive. Guest had access to a shared sitting room and breakfast room and a kitchen, that has a fridge and stove and microwave, which came in handy for my cup of tea. The roof top was accessible but was in need of a little t.l.c., we enjoyed sitting there after a day of exploring the city. The security included a door buzzer that would alert the desk person to open the locked gate. The location of the hostel was ideal for my husband and myself. Every thing that we had wanted to visit was in walking distance from the hostel. The people that work there are very helpful and full of information. I would certainly stay there again!

Quinta Rufino ...Hostel?? Bed and Breakfast??
Whoa! none of the pictures or descriptions were as it was. We just arrived in Mendoza, were exhausted, so didn't care..but the bathroom seemed dirty, our room was on the outdoor hallway, so it seemed people were in our room talking or working. I made sure none of our clothes touched the floors. The food offered for breakfast: what was offered was gone by 1.5 hrs before the ending time and when asked of the morning person to replenish, they seemed irritated and gave my husband a hard old roll. The night person was very nice and amable! that was the only positive...but this place was NOT cheap, as is usual for a hostel. My daughter, who lives in Argentina, said that it was a travesty to serve not fresh orange juice. She has stayed in many hostels in Argentina. This was one of the worst, she said.

Good location, but completely run down facility. Owners and managers k now this but do not do even simple things that cast little money. Had we not paid in advance,, we would definitely have left after the first night. The place should be delisted, and only be relisted when improvements have been made. The description of a "beach" is false. There is no beach. Of all the many hostels I have stayed in, the breakfast here was but far the worst, and should not be called breakfst

We were not comfortable with this hostile. The room was of an adequate size, but the attmosphere was very low end. Our reason for staying here was to take advantage of their advertised ability to book outdoor adventure trips. We decided not to ask for this service.

There was a problem on arrival even though I arrived late in the day. Second problem was that " airconditioning " was only a fan which I would not recommend in summer. Third was lack of english spoken. In all other respects was very good, and I intend to go back in the autumn when it should be cooler.

Fantastic
Amazing little hostel/bed and breakfast/hotel! It's a clean place and the people are super nice! It's in a happy wonderful neighbourhood and a short walk to everything! So happy we veered away from our guidebook (it wasn't listed in it) and found this place on our own. I would definately go back a hundred times more :)
