This is a great choice for accommodation if you're intending to stay and explore the city center. The location is very convenient as it's close to major transport, such as Tram, Train and Bus. The Great Southern Hotel is walkable distance from the Southern Cross station where you can catch the Skybus to and from the airport and the city. The staff are really friendly and happy to help you. The only negative thing I would say was that the TV/internet was a bit slow and so I couldn't properly watch the shows that I wanted, but to be honest that's a very small price to pay for accommodation at a good location. Highly recommend this place for any travelers.

We didn't like that there was only Channels 7 & 9 to choose from. Why aren't ABC, SBS and 10 available as well? Over all it was clean, convenient to CBD and free public transport.

We enjoyed it very much. And not on the expensive side. Very nice room. Breakfast was great. A big breakfast is very good value, we only had a light breakfast but that too was perfect. There were some kids who looked very happy with their big breakfast! :)

We were freezing in the middlenof the night because we could not turn off the air conditioning and had very thin bedding. The phone did not work to call reception. Staff attended with one blanket for 2 beds and 2 heaters. He siad heat was turned off in the building. He also told us we could take our key card out to disengage the ac. He asked us where the remote was. We did.not have one.

It is an old hotel. It only provided a thin fleece blanket which was a bit shock. However, the location is great, price is cheaper. If you don't have an adapter for charging, there is no USB, but you can borrow an adapter from the front desk. If people don't mind, but just taking a shower and sleep, still recommended.
