A Lovely Getaway
We had a really lovely stay at Valhalla and hope to return in the future. The cabin is remote and private, surrounded by tree-covered mountains and beautiful sky. Mornings and evenings were spent on the deck, admiring the view, the birds, the horses, and plentiful wildlife. As others have mentioned, it’s a very private spot in the midst of an abundance of natural beauty. The cabin is perfect for two with a very comfortable bed, fresh linens, winning views, a front deck AND back porch with comfortable seating, and a kitchen where we cooked many of our meals. The mountainside was cooler than surrounding areas and the split inside kept the cabin very comfortable even in the summer heat. I suggest checking a map before your initial drive to the cabin. Waze missed an important turn and took us up the opposite side of the mountain, past an abandoned stripped car on the side of the rural mountain road, over some rough rutted roads to gated driveways. I had read the Valhalla reviews so was expecting something “barely paved” as one person mentioned. In actuality, this was not the case. After those sketchy roads on the other side of the mountain, the road to Valhalla was great. It was clearly marked and easy to traverse. If you message ahead of time, you’ll be given the code to the door. The cabin is about 20 minutes away from any stores/restaurants/etc. It’s a beautiful drive, it just means that you’ll want to have all of your essentials before you settle in for the night. We were

Not exactly Valhalla
We have a lot to say about this property. First, I will say that the property does give you great views of the forest/farm. The cabin sits behind a horse stable. To say that the cabin is remote, is an understatement. If you are looking to completely unplug and plan on staying at the cabin the whole time, this is the place for you. If you plan on doing any sight seeing like we did, it is not for you. It takes 20 minutes from the cabin to the heart of town. The last road to the cabin is barely a paved road. It's very hard to find. There is NO cell phone reception. They do provide Wi-fi but it's not secured. When you arrive, there are no instructions or any type of welcome. There is a TV but it doesn't work and there was no remote. There is a DVD player and a few DVD's, however, with no TV remote to actually turn on the TV to watch a DVD was a chore (finding the buttons on the back of the TV). It was very cold in the cabin. The unit they have is supposed to work for AC and a heater but it didn't really work. We had to stay bundled up while we were in the cabin. The biggest issue we had with the cabin was that it was dirty and dusty. The vents in the AC unit were filled with dust as well as there being cobwebs on the lamps, dust bunnies in the corners. The floors were dirty. The lines were dated and hard. They smelled musty and we wondered if they were laundered. The throw blankets definitely don't seem like they have been washed in a while. It was so bad, we cut our stay short.

Heaven in the woods
Such a beautiful little cabin nestled in the mountains. It was very comfortable and accommodating. The peace we felt there was awesome. Host was kind and welcoming. Perfect little getaway. Views from the cabin were breathtaking. Definitely at the top of our vacation experiences. We didn’t want to leave and hope to come back soon. Thank you! (Bear in mind, this literally is a cabin in the woods. I would recommend stopping by the grocery store BEFORE heading to the cabin. It is a 20 min drive to go back.)

Beautiful Spot, Amazing Views, Peaceful and Serene
We really enjoyed everything about our stay. It was tricky finding the place in the rain and dark, so we recommend arriving in daytime if possible. Once we had the route down, though, it was a breeze. Reasonable driving distance to shopping and amenities. The cabin itself is well-stocked with everything we needed, was cutely decorated, and felt cozy and like home. The views were spectacular and it was incredibly quiet at night. Highly recommend and would love to go back someday. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Beautiful, quiet location
We had wonderful experience here. The quiet, serene location is the draw for this place. The home itself is small, but adequate. The bedroom is big with a very comfortable king bed. The kitchen is very small and might lack some items necessary for meal preparation. Living room furniture is comfortable. There is a television in the living room, but it only has a DVD player connected to it. If you care for entertainment otherwise, bring a Firestick or Roku device. The real draw for this place is the location. It is away from any city noise and the dark sky is amazing. You can sit on the deck and watch for wildlife. we saw deer and Jack rabbits, in addition to the horses on property. This is a great place to unwind and leave your everyday cars behind.

Remote, thoughtfully-appointed retreat
This property is a bit of a drive and rather far from restaurants, etc. In return you stay in a place that's both private and expansive in view. We saw an astonishing number of wild animals, including a black bear on the road. Inside it's thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. Better than I had anticipated. A quiet place to read or watch the stars. It should be noted that although the kitchen is adequate for small breakfasts and light cooking, it's not equipped for serious meal-making.

A wonderful location detached from the busy world. Not just a place to stay but a whole environment for a perfect couples weekend getaway. We enjoyed morning tea and coffee while watching the horses, deer, squirrels and birds, just listening to unobstructed nature. A gem of a location!

Amazing vacation spot!
It certainly lives up to it’s description! It’s beautiful - well maintained - comfortable - restful - gorgeous night skies! It’s worth the 15 minute drive from Jacksonville - in fact, it ended up being a great drive to watch for wildlife! We saw mountain sheep, lots of deer, wild turkeys, a fox, chickens, ground squirrel, to name a few.

Lovely cabin with gorgeous view!
This was a perfect get-away for my wife and I on our anniversary. As long as you follow the directions provided, the property isn't hard to find. With that said it's definitely off the beaten path. We enjoyed a weekend of peace, seclusion, and incredible views from the large picture windows. This has got to be one of the best places to stay in Jackson county OR!
