Overall the lodging was fine. There’s some deferred maintenance needed but the lodge is okay. The dining room was way under staffed when we were there. So service was very slow. Food was good though.

I can see that this was once a very special rustic Lodge with the nice Jacuzzi and real wood fireplace decor was very nice. We appreciated the assistance with the lights from the cleaning lady. We would’ve enjoyed being able to watch some TV except it didn’t work. I like the deck off the room. The large dining room and outdoor patio is really nice. Nice to see new carpeting going in.

Callahan's is a great property but attention to detail is needed badly. Heavy foot traffic has caused carpeting and general cleanliness to go downhill. Our room's jacuzzi tub did not work. we stayed three nights and never got room attention-i.e. towels, coffee pods, garbage removal, etc.All in all though a nice relaxing stay but some cleanup is sorely needed.

Great location and restaurant option was a plus. Outside of lodge was beautiful - grounds and beyond. Room was small and dark. A ton of stains on the carpet and on bed skirt in room. Looked like red wine was splattered - at least I hope it was wine! Carpet throughout facility is in desperate need of replacing! Fish and garbage smell near our room, as we were ground level and under restaurant area. If we stay again - we would definitely want an upper floor with balcony.

Be careful this property can be made to look wonderful and perhaps some rooms are. But most of the property is aged and upon second look full of stained rugs and worn details. I was placed in a ground full room with a dirty and torn carpet that needs replacement. Furthermore, I ask for a quiet room but the room was directly across from the game room where a noisy family kept running in and out. As other reviewers have commented the staff is overwhelmed. The Jim is vintage 1989 and the continental breakfast is substandard and not well maintained. Realistically, this property needs the significant upgrade and should not be advertised in the way it is on Expedia

This looked like a beautiful place to relax and stay the night. I feel bad that they were understaffed so check in was also managed by the bartender/waitress. She was incredibly rude and wanted us to just come back for check in because she was working in the restaurant. We waited 40 mins to check in and then wanted to eat at the restaurant and leave a big tip to help her with her day. After 20 min being the only ones there she finally said “just seat yourself”. We did and then after 10 minutes went to the lobby and got our own water. Waited another 20 mins and she still didn’t come over so we found a great restaurant on yelp to drive to. She spent her whole time chatting in the bar rather than helping customers. It also smelled really bad when entering the facility and the tried to mask it with fake pine sent.

The lodge is the perfect spot for a decent price if wanting a great nights sleep with a spa and balcony and staying outside Ashland. Breakfast was included saving an additional $40-$50. This lodge will be our first choice if in the area again. The front desk was extremely courteous and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. Hopefully they will work on replacing carpet in the future but for the view and uniqueness of the lodge and amenities you won’t be disappointed.

Seems like not much maintenance has been done since major renovations in 2008, when the place was rebuilt after the fire in the restaurant. Wood Flooring was damaged several places and carpets all over were filthy and stained. We found fleas in the property/ dining areas.
