Family vacation
We stayed at the farmhouse as overflow housing for a nearby family vacation. It was perfect for our needs. The antiques throughout the house gave it the cozy grace of a bygone era. Coffee on the front porch before heading to family activities was the perfect start to our day. Meeting Karen at check-in and learning some of the history of the home was a bonus.

Comfortable place to stay
The home was clean and spacious. About 20 mins from Wisconsin Dells. It was nice to get away from the busyness of the Dells. Would highly recommend staying here.

All the amenities of home
We were looking for something different than a small and stuffy hotel room for a short family vacation. The Old Century Farmhouse gave us the room we needed as a family of 5 and all the amenities of home. Very clean and kept. Would stay there again.

An amazing stay in the country!
This was a really great place for our family to stay while we explored the area. The property comes well equipped and is very clean. There are many things do do locally and we really enjoyed visiting Mauston and the Dells. We would certainly stay again if we were in the area.

Perfect secluded country house
I loved staying at this old farmhouse. Karen was a most hospitable host. If you’re looking for some peace and quiet this a great home to offer that. We watched deer and fireflies in the fields each night. My husband likes all the modern tech amenities, which this home doesn’t have, but my kids and I loved the beautiful grounds and screened in front porch was well utilized for morning coffee and evening games. The weather was hot and we were very thankful for the a/c in every room. Easy access to local lakes and the Dells; a beautiful 20min drive for most everything we did.

Great place if you are looking for no frills, peace and quiet. The house has a wonderful history. It is spacious and comfortable but lacking some things I would normally expect (extra blanket and grill, for example).

The house was immaculately clean and was so welcoming. Karen was flexible with our check-in and responded to questions very promptly. We enjoyed cooking and playing games around the dining room table, drinking coffee on the front porch and picking apples from the apple tree. Highly recommended.

Memories
Thank you again for the weekend getaway in the beautiful country house! We loved the stories and loved the views! But mostly we loved how at home we could feel sitting around the kitchen table playing uno or drinking coffee in the morning as the sun came up on the porch! Thank you again for the fun family weekend! We hope to do it again next year!

Lovely Farmhouse
It was a lovely home and we really enjoyed it. We will go again! We went river tubing in Mauaton, on the Wisconsin River and it was amazing. Only downside was upstairs shower seemed totally crowded as it has shower curtains all around it, that go inside of the tub. Also, I would recommend non stick pans. But again we loved our stay there. The place and the yard are beautiful! Karen the home owner is a great person too!

Perfect getaway home
Karen was very friendly and great to deal with from the first phone call. The house was very clean and we felt very much at home here. We traveled out during the day to some great areas. We visited the Dells and went on the Upper Dells Boat Tour. We also went to Devil's Lake State Park which was a family favorite. We hiked all over that place!! We went one evening and knew we had to go back to hike some more. The views were fantastic. And the kids loved swimming in the Lake. We also drove to Cave of the Mounds and enjoyed learning about this discovery long ago. Who knew there were underground caves in Wisconsin? We had a great long weekend away and enjoyed our stay in Wisconsin. Loved seeing all the farms on our drives. Wish I had taken more photos of the beautiful barns!! My husband, a small dairy farmer himself, enjoyed seeing all the farms and cows. It was a great house to stay in, quiet, away from all the noise and crowds in the Dells. You will love it.

Quiet, clean, comfortable historic house at a very good value
The first thing we noticed when pulling up to the Old Century Farmhouse was that it was bigger than we expected it to be from the pictures and description. The property is spacious and beautifully landscaped. The back yard is surrounded by corn fields giving a nice, private feel. Inside, the house was very clean and comfortable. The very high high ceilings, steep stairways and hardwood floors all let you know that this is an older house, but it has been very well maintained over the years. The window air conditioning units throughout the house did a very good job of keeping it cool during a hot summer week of our stay. The beds and bedding were comfortable enough. Nice, fluffy bath towels were provided. The location is far enough away from Mauston and the Dells to be quiet and private, but close enough that we were a short trip from the all the activities we wanted to complete on our vacation. The large screened in porch was very nice for relaxing in the evenings, and did a good job of keeping the bugs out. The showers are not great, as can be expected in a house this age. There are two bathrooms with showers. The upstairs bathroom is a tub with shower curtains wrapped all around, and the downstairs shower is a very small shower stall with a very low shower head. Neither was great, but not bad enough to lower my rating from 5 stars due to the overall value of the house. Another negative is that there isn't a clothes washer or dryer available--again not enough to lower the rating given the value, but it would be nice to have. A clothes line in the yard would also be nice for hanging wet towels and bathing suits when coming back from swimming or the water parks. All told, the house was an excellent value and served us well on our Dells area vacation. It has a lot of character while still being a comfortable place our family of four to stay. Karen greeted us warmly on arrival, and gave us a tour of the house. She is obviously proud of the property and it shows in how well she maintains it and cares for the landscaping around it. I would have no reservations at all in staying there again or recommending it to friends and family.
