Fabulous
What a great get-away. We can't say enough good things about this cabin. The cabin, the grounds, the amenities, the hot tub, the views were all above our expectations. Plenty of towels, linens, flatware, silverware, glasses, pots and pans and cooking utensils. We WILL stay there again. Everyone mentions the driveway being difficult. We never had to put our vehicles in 4WD. It's actually a fun ride up to the cabin. The flow of the French Broad River below us was a beautiful sound. Plus, you get to drive along the river on the way there. We saw deer, turkeys and a small bear on the property while we were there :-) You will not regret reserving this cabin, it was wonderful!

An Enjoyable Stay
I rented the cabin with three friends for a three-day creative retreat, and it lived up to expectations. While the driveway was a challenge, the view of the French Broad River was spectacular, and the site provided good creative inspiration. The hot tub and fire pit were both excellent, and the kitchen was well equipped (though missing a spatula, though we were able to make do easily enough). The beds were comfortable, though the downstairs bedroom was a bit chilly at night. My only real complaint is that the downstairs and first floor bathrooms weren't stocked with towels. Other than that, my friends and I loved it and had a wonderful time.

Great getaway
My husband and I have now stayed at this property twice and we love it. It’s secluded, has a beautiful view, and we love the location. It is about a 30 minute drive to Asheville, 10 minutes to downtown Marshall and close to a couple other areas as well. If you want to be away from everything but close enough to town to go out to dinner or visit a museum, the arts district, biltmore estate etc this is a great place which we would recommend. It’s also good to note it is about 10 minutes from a grocery store as well so very convenient if you’re buying food to cook for your stay or forgot to bring an essential with you.

Beautiful log cabin
Great log cabin in Madison County right outside Asheville. Beautiful view of the French Broad from the front porch. Cabin was perfect for our party of 6. Photos are accurate. Easy access to rafting and other activities in and around Marshall and easy drive into Asheville. The driveway is steep as advertised, and our SUVs did fine with it.

Better than expected!
Unbelievable location. Breath-taking views and serenity up there on the crest. Gorgeous house, awesome hot tub, ideal meadow for reading or picnicking, close to the CUTEST old town of Marshall… SUPER DUPER clean property. We are definitely coming back! (Our only complaint was the little centipedes that invade the first floor each night and the wasps that stung my son on the porch. We annihilated the centipedes with a wasp spray we found, but their dead little bodies were then our morning discovery. I’d recommend Turnkey get a pest control service to remove the wasp nests (there’s a little one above the hot tub) and seal the transition at the basement door. Other than that- INCREDIBLE experience!

Great spot
The Doolittle Cabin was a great place to relax and unwind. The home is quiet and secluded with a beautiful view of the French Broad River. It was clean and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The only problem we had was millipedes invaded the first floor every night - SO MANY millipedes each morning - my daughter ended up sleeping on the futon on the third floor.

Adorable log cabin
This was like an adventure to a little cabin in the big woods. Sleeps 5-6 people very comfortably, bathroom on each floor and lovely deck with sweeping views of the river, mountains and lush trees. A great place to unwind and exhale. We hosted family over for dinner and easily can seat 12 people for dinner comfortably between dining room and deck. Steep driveway, keep your hands on the wheel, but worth it! I would book again.

Beautiful cabin and view, great location
We had a wonderful time at the Doolittle cabin. The view is incredible, all the bedrooms and amenities are clean and inviting, we made use of the fire pit, hot tub and short hiking paths around the property. It is also a great location for fishing, visiting breweries in Asheville, and hiking. Great vacation and would definitely recommend to others!

Fabulous choice
Cabin was well appointed for our family ranging in ages 18-51. We all enjoyed the porch, spectacular view, fire pit, hot tub, kitchen tools for so many cooking options. I really loved cooking for my fam. after outdoor adventures. A wonderful grocery store (Ingle’s) approximately 10 minutes away. Once familiar with the driveway, which is something to understand. We drove a Honda CRV in June and had no issues climbing the driveway. Driveway is paved 2/3 of the way and packed gravel last leg. Marshall downtown area is well worth your time. Quick access to Weaverville & Ashville and more. We can’t wait to rent Doolittle Cabin again!

Amazing Scenic Property
Our stay was incredible. This property is a must see. Beautiful scenery, great walking trails, the hot tub and the cabin was well maintained and clean. The only inconvenience was the drive way. We had a 4-wheel drive truck and it was difficult, so I highly recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle! We will absolutely book the property again!!

A much needed get away
I have to say the trip to the cabin was beautiful. (Alert... please be ready for some fun roller coaster ride going up the hill to get to the cabin) after a few times going up and down you will be fine. the magic of the cabin itself it's totally worth it. The coziness of the cabin makes you want to never leave, all the little details in it, the pictures, the games the fireplace that makes it feel like a home. the Jacuzzi was wonderful, the warm Firepit and the most beautiful breathtaking view. the space in the cabin was amazing and we are already thinking of bringing the rest of the family the next time. This time we just used this trip to get away since we have been working from home because of Covit and didn't want to go too far, this truly did the trick. Thank you for answering all my questions when we were on our way and when we got there. I always felt I would be taken care of if needed at any time. The experience was fantastic. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.

Fantastic Getaway
We had a great experience. The cabin is situated just perfectly on the property. It is obvious as written in the welcome packet that the family took their time finding the optimal site to build on. It was very clean, well maintained and everything from the grill to the hot tub and firepit were in great shape. The driveway garners the bulk of the comments but it has fresh pavement on the lower third, existing pavement on the middle third and is well compacted gravel on the upper and flattest part. The switchbacks are tight, but we took our suburban up it with a 3 point turn at each and never put a tire off of the asphalt so it shouldn't deter anyone from missing out on what awaits at the top. The sound of the rapids below on the French Broad provide a nice constant white noise and the comfortable chairs on the front porch are perfect for just parking yourself their for a long period of time. We had our family of 4 and my wife's parents and the 3 floors worked just fine for us. We enjoyed the board games from upstairs and watching the deer and turkey come and go. Also got in some quality birdwatching and walked all of the trails. Marshall had a few nice little places to check out and we enjoyed dinner along the river at Mad Co Brew House on our final night after grilling most of the time. Loved that the grill was hooked up to a large in ground tank as it seems the grill is always out of propane at most rentals with the little tanks! DirecTV worked fine and wifi speeds were around 25Mbps which was fine for our family and I could've worked remotely with that had a chosen to but fortunately did not have to. Verizon also stunningly had 5G service there as well and others with T-mobile had fine LTE service also. I'd recommend using as little of allof that stuff as possible however and enjoy the cabin and property for what it is. Anyhow we had a great stay and everyone agreed this would be a great place for a return visit. Thanks so much to the family and also to Turnkey for a great property and easy experience.
