Unique Shepherd's Hut in the Cotswolds, pet friendly, a glorious retreat

Bertie's Shepherds Hut is a beautifully crafted, newly built Shepherds Hut located in a large south facing private paddock at the back of our house in the Cotswolds, on the edge of the Cotswold Water Park. There are views across to fields, often with deer roaming and grazing in the orchard, and a pond at the bottom of the field, full of wildlife and interest.

Bertie's Hut has been thoughtfully furnished and finished to a high standard, with a hand built and painted kitchen. The space is small but perfectly formed, cosy yet spacious to be in. There is a raised bed with storage beneath. The bed has a luxury Simba mattress, Dusk bedding and is incredibly comfy with views across the field to the pond from bed. The living space has a fully fitted kitchen, with an AEG oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, belfast sink and plenty of storage to house the cooking utensils, plates, bowls etc should you need them. Alongside this there is a built in love seat, where you can sit to look out past the dovecote across the orchard. There is a breakfast bar and or workspace area, with plenty of electrical outlets, a Nespresso coffee machine, and Fermob comfy seats to sit on while enjoying the morning tea or coffee. Through a sliding door, there is a full shower room, with electric shower, sink, toilet, heated towel rail and shelving for towels, toiletries etc.

There is a Samsung Smart TV, Wifi provided by Gigaclear SuperFast Broadband, ethernet if needed, a smoke alarm, plinth heater, wall lights, LED lighting in the kitchen area and plenty of power outlets.

Outside, there is a Coronation Commemoration teak bench to rest weary bones, big grey chairs to sit by the firepit and enjoy a glass of something, and a Weber gas BBQ on a purpose built kitchen style area to prepare food before moving to the table and chairs to eat under the festoon lighting.

THE AREA

Bertie's Hut is close to all amenities, with the Cotswold Water Park 5 mins away, where you can jet ski, sail, paddle board, swim or sit on the beach, and only 10 minutes to the heart of the Cotswolds, the beautiful market town of Cirencester, full of beautiful shopping and coffee shops as well as excellent restaurants and the wonderful Barn Theatre. Tetbury, the home of King Charles and Westonbirt Arboretum and fantastic antique shops is 10 mins away. The other direction is Malmesbury, the birth place of King Athelstone and the oldest abbey in the country. Kemble, 5 mins away, is home to Cotswold Airport and a direct train to London.

Further afield, Regency Cheltenham is 25 mins away, Georgian Bath 40 mins, and Oxford is 1 hour by car from Bertie's Hut. If you want to go to the creamy Cotswolds from postcards, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, amongst other beautiful places, are under an hour away by car, as is Bibury, Burford, Barnsley along with Diddly Squat Farm and the Farmers Dog Pub.

Annually Fairford hosts the Royal International Air Tattoo and that is only 20 mins by car from Bertie's Hut.

The shepherds Hut was beautifully made, well designed to maximise the space and incredibly quiet. The place had the old world charm but with all the mod cons including coffee machine and wifi. Would highly recommend

Cute hut with stunning views
Stayed for the night with my husband. The shepherds hut is set back from the main house so you get your privacy. Stunning views. Deer wandering around this morning. The hut is spacious with everything you need. The bed was so comfortable and even though it was cold outside, the hut was plenty warm enough. Lovely outdoor area for when there’s better weather. We would definitely return. The owners were on hand if there were issues (we didn’t have any) Thanks for a lovely break

Quiet and comfortable
I stayed at the Shepherd's Hut as I needed a place to stop over on the way to a wedding further up north, and it was great. I had a great sleep, it was quiet and comfortable. The kitchen had everything I wanted and the bathroom was great with the shower and everything I needed. Outside was great too, but as it was cold I couldn't use the BBQ or fire pit. I would stay again and would recommend. Rebecca was a great host, knows the area well and happy to say hello and answer questions.
