We appreciated the warm greeting from Clotilde. The hotel is near the tram (roughly two blocks away) and the metro. The breakfast buffet is filling and costs e16.00/person. There are patisseries nearby and the U Express grocery store if you’d rather not have breakfast at the hotel. Please don’t complain about the size of the rooms! This is Europe and a charming hotel. If you want it super-sized, then go to the States. We had a lovely stay, in a quiet neighborhood and felt like one of the locals.

We booked a superior room for the bath tub on the Hotels. Com picture. They gave us a little static upon check in about not having to provide it for us, despite me spending $16 more for it. Then the elevator is not working and we have to carry luggage 3 floors… not a professional property. No coffee maker either. Unusual for 2024.

I stayed in a double room for 3 nights and thought the place was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is a little tired in places but a great location for transport hubs and exploring the city. Good value for money.

The hotel is a modest three star hotel and, at least in the case of my room, has small rooms. However the room was compact and designed to make maximum use of the available space. Everything was immaculate and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is modest but tasteful. In short it offers excellent value for a hotel of this level.

We loved our visit to Hotel du Simplon. The hotel is a few blocks from fantastic restaurants and a shopping district. It is also a block from running/biking paths along the river. We loved exploring Lyon from the convenience of Hotel du Simplon. The room was perfect for our family of four - bunk beds and a queen. Everything was clean. The staff was knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. Wonderful hotel. Lots of convenient and safe garage parking available three blocks from hotel.

It was comfortable, older style with some internal upgrades. Unfortunately we needed parking and the price was increased to 35 euros per night (about $56 Australian), which is a lot, so we saved a bit by skipping the 16 euro per person breakfast and ate elsewhere for a lot less.

The toilet was in the shower. The bathroom was like a cruise ship—the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel and the toilet was half in the shower. This is not an exaggeration. The hairdryer was outside of the bathroom, attached to the wall. No room even for that. A metal panel fell from the ceiling—missing really injuring me by 30 seconds. Some of the staff were great, but others not so much. The location was good.

Very clean and pleasant hotel in a very convenient location. The down sides were that there was noisy building work being done across the road first thing in the mornings and the air con didn’t work which resulted in a very hot and stuffy room to sleep in

Overall the Hotel du Simplon is charming, comfortable and quiet. However, it was missing a few of the little touches that one usually expects with a hotel - coffee & tea in the rooms, ditto for glasses, tissues etc. I'd stay again, but I'd probably look at other options first.
