I will start by saying this, because I am reasonable and see both sides of the argument. Also, likely what the host will state (which is true), he was more than accommodating for me. This was a day for my proposal, granted many things were out of his control but it does not excuse lying. Before the check in, the host let me visit the property, which I was very grateful for. He also had multiple phone calls with me to discuss any questions I had. I was really impressed by the host during the initial booking process. The day off was where things went sideways. I was told at 10 a.m., 6 hours prior to check in that the electricity went out at the home, it was the only home on the block and Edison crews were working on it since the morning after multiple calls were made to them. I doubt Edison had workers out in the middle of a rainstorm but thats a different story. Upon being told this, I searched the address on So Cal Edison’s site, and no outage was reported. I can assure you, as a person who lives in a home serviced by SoCal Edison, the minute you call them, an outage sign goes up on their website. During this time, the host offered a cancellation as the only solution which would not have worked on such a big day where so much money was spent. I found a workaround and even asked the host if we can check in one hour earlier than regular check in time to have some of the natural daylight instead of the night sky. After the proposal, we noticed that it was very cold in the home. Upon looking for a thermostat, I could not locate one so I contacted the host. Host told me to go upstairs and look in the cubby, where all I saw were wires sticking out of the wall. When I informed him, he stated that there should be another plastic piece and to put it back on the wall because it was “weird” that it was off the wall. I did so, and it said the house was at 57 degrees, so I told the host I will put it on 81 degrees and check when we get back home from dinner. We returned home around 10 p.m. and it was still freezing in the home, still at 57 degrees. I notified the host who stated “hmm, unless the gas was turned off by someone. I had a handyman there today to look into the electric outage, let me ask him.”Also said the handyman did not turn it off and he doesnt know who he can get out at that time. We decided to layer up and freeze under the blankets. Also,Leaking walls, cold shower and no working stove. All I got back was 100 dol. Charac lim wont let me say mo
