My recent stay at Zedwell Tottenham Court was extremely upsetting due to the staff’s lack of even the most basic respect for my disabilities.
Upon arrival and faced with an extortionate amount to check-in 40 minutes early I had to wait. Seats were available but despite explaining that while standing was more comfortable due to my condition, both options left me in increasing pain. I was then ignored by the front desk for 30 minutes.
I struggled with the check-in process and while one member did seem to be genuinely trying to help, others who inserted themselves into the situation were dismissive, argumentative, and generally made the situation worse. One staff member in particular accused me of fabricating my disabilities, argued that I did not deserve any help, and only had myself to blame for the pain I was in and the difficulties I was having. The actions of that staff member triggered a panic attack.
The situation worsened the next day when I was further antagonised by the same staff member who again accused me of falsifying my disability and threatened to have me removed from the property by security.
In both incidents, nearby management observed from a distance without intervening.
The hotel’s staff displayed a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. I would not recommend this hotel, especially to disabled guests.
