We spent Christmas Eve at the hotel and, unfortunately, our stay was disappointing from the start. An older woman was struggling to climb the stairs at the rear entrance to the property, and she appeared to be homeless. The building appeared to be under heavy renovation while being rented -- littered with paint shavings, paint mask parts, and rubbish. Our room was very far from reception even though we asked for a closer room due to my wife's sciatica; and we found a live cockroach in our room. Unfortunately, the bed was also quite soft. The room itself was OK but the entire hotel is dated and needs at least $1 million in renovation (smoke alarms are obsolete and I doubt they all work); our phone in the room just did not work and an outlet on the lamp stand did not work, forcing me to use another outlet. Finally, this hotel has "shared balconies" on the second floor, allowing anyone from street level to walk (not climb) onto them and to stand outside the sliding glass door to the room, which several "guests" did, causing us some concern (they could be anyone including people from the area). The restaurant was closed even though it was Christmas Eve (and closed the next day), so, all in all, we won't be staying at this hotel again.

Nice man at reception
The front desk against was fantastic. He was on the phone when I got there but he nodded to acknowledge me. He was efficient and polite and friendly. It was Friday night and I am sad I don’t remember his name.

Disappointed in the Hotel!! Not the nicest area! A lot of police around ! Didn’t really feel safe!! No one was at the front desk !!! Had to wait!! The TV did not work!!! Talked to front desk several times!! The window was wide out when we arrived! Room was freezing !! The heater didn’t work very well , kept shutting off!! !! I kept losing WFI on my phone!! !Comfortable Bed !! The room looked old !!(Furnishings&microwave) No wash clothes! No tea, sugar and milk and only 1 old coffee package !Some loud neighbours, a lot of yelling! ! The Hotel needs a lot of TLC!!! Sorry , just the way I feel! Unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!

This property was in the process of doing major maintenance work. The hallways were being patched and painted, there was a huge heap of garbage in the stairwell and the corridors had debris on the carpets, as well there was a strong smell of paint. In my experience, it's common practice to do this work in stages - restricting occupancy to areas that were not being worked on. It would have been nice to have been told about this work, so I could have made an informed decision about booking here. The walls in this hotel were paper thin - two young men in the room next to us were up all night talking very loudly and frequently standing outside of our room to smoke, again talking very loudly. It was impossible to sleep through this - it sounded like there was a party going on in there, but no - just two men with no indoor voice. Cleanliness was hit and miss, the room and bedding was clean enough, but the bathroom tub was very worn, and the grout and caulking was not clean. You do get what you pay for, this was a low priced night - but there should have been some mention of the maintenance work.

They are in the middle of renovations, which i was not aware when i booked the room online, so hallways are covered in drywall dust and dirty, i was surprised that they allowed there contractors to leave behind a mess. so if you are asthmatic which i am it might not be the best place for you at this time as i did not sleep well. The price was ok during renovations being under 100, however they do charge a security deposit of 50 which is refundable after 5 days ? I do have a concern with this as they did not give me anything that showed or said my room was in good shape for my stay. The shower head leaked badly, i am surprised that they do not have anyone checking the rooms over thoroughly for this sort of thing, maybe they do and this got missed. Anyway we were in a middle of a snow storm and i was not able to make it home, so it gave me a place to stay.
