I would highly recommend the Access Camden Apartments, large spacious accommodation and in a great location. I come to Camden for a few nights every year and I have stayed at these apartments for the last 5years and never been disappointed. The online check-in facility this year was even better, with clear instructions sent to me in advance, indicating how to gain access to the apartment without having to go to a different location in London to pick up the keys. I look forward to returning again next year.
Ridiculous set up. You collect the entry pass and key from a hotel 40 minutes away. If you don’t read the small print when you book, what happens is...you arrive at the apartment entrance (situated next to the bins from the pub next door), realise you can’t get in, call the number and are told that you have to go across London to get the key. Next find a taxi and travel 40 mins and pay £28. Arrive at the hotel, state it wasn’t clear regarding key collection, be told by the hotel that they are sorry (nice) and that they have a lot of complaints but the owners don’t care. They state they will transfer me for return journey, then wait 45 minutes for the transfer (argh!!) take another 45 minutes back to the apartment and fall into the single creaky bed. Disgruntled and will never book here again.
All in all we liked the apartment. The check in was at a Best Western Burns about 4 miles from the apartment. We took the Tube from Heathrow to Earl's Court and walked a short distance to the hotel for check-in. The Burn's staff were courteous and efficient and called us a complimentary cab to take us to the apartment.
Pro's: Great location close to the Camden Town Tube station. Around the corner was a Sainsbury's supermarket and we were one street over from the Camden Market that featured hundreds of stores and restaurants. We had a nice 3 bedroom apartment with an en suite in the master and a hall bathroom for the other two bedrooms. Open concept kitchen with large dining and living area. We were on the fourth floor (elevator was punctual) so had good views of downtown skyline with decreased street sounds. WiFi worked well once we found the passcode. the apartment was cleaned and featured portable fans in most of the rooms. We kept the windows and the sliding glass door open for good ventilation. And yes, there was a large patio off the living room. Hottest hot water ever and plenty of it!
Cons: Third bedroom was very tight. No air conditioning but was not really necessary at the end of August. Hall bathroom exhaust fan did not work. Kitchen faucet hot and cold controllers were bolts. Patio off the master bedroom was not accessible. Loud pub below us usually quieted by 11 pm.

Disappointed.
I did not realise on booking that key collection was required. This is from Earls Court on the other side of London. From finishing work at 5pm, I finally got to the apartment at 7.00. I would not have booked had I known this. I had booked an apartment for 2 adults and expected a double room. I arrived to find bunk beds and a single. I was appalled. The matress is of terrible quality and you can feel the springs. No bedside lights, just very bright overheads. The bedroom is also tiny. Tonight I shall have to sleep on the sofa as the bed is too uncomfortable. The apartment is like a greenhouse and I have fans going and the window open. It is still uncomfortably hot. The tv will only tune to a small number of chanels. The shower needs fixing. You turn it on and the pressure of the water forces the showerhead up. The ceiling is sprayed. You are not. There is no hair dryer. Needless to say, I would not revisit.
Next to a pub extremely noisy until 3 or 4 am
Lots of partying around but I am older and need my sleep
Could use better matresses
Nice to have a washer and whole kitchen
Pleasant apartment if it weren't for noise

Functional
The place is clean and it has all that you would need for a short stay.
Check-in was a PITA with having to go to Earls Court first to pick-up the keys
The in-house Safe was locked hence useless.
The bedding arrangements (advertised as 4 Twin Beds) turns out to be 4 x single beds - including a set of single bunk beds and two additional single bed of differing heights. These must have the most uncomfortable beds they could find and the bedding provided was low quality.
Upon arrival the cutlery provided included 3 knives, no hair-dryer (which was supposed to be available on request - its not).
The apartment is reasonably large and spacious but its very run down and looks as though they ran out of paint at some time in the past when re-doing the walls.

Not what we paid for
Unhappy with the bedrooms as it wasn't advertised as bunk beds and single bed in one room and a single bed in another room. This did not work for a family of 4 and pictures suggested it was two single beds in each room. The balcony we also wanted when we booked did not open.
Camden Town is a great base for getting to almost any part of London, including most of the main railway stations.
The apartment is well located, within very easy striking distance of Camden Town tube station, Camden Market and Camden Lock, where the canal towpath leads to London Zoo one way and King's Cross in the opposite distance.
Great place if you want to be in Camden; tedious check in and adds more than an hour to your trip (waiting for taxi, and drive to place), but would happily stay there again. The place is for student housing but they rent it out as room; it's centrally located in Camden with a cool club downstairs, giant market across the street, one block from tube, and all the rock n roll shopping you could want within blocks.
Nice apartment, unfortunately very noisy from the street and the mattresses were worn out,

London family holiday
We booked Access Camden for a family trip to London in the summer holiday's. We contacted The Access office to ask if we could check in early. They said this would be no problem and we were able to check in three hours early which was ideal having three young children. On arrival at the apartment we found the premises to be near to the tube and there were plenty of shops and supermarkets within a short distance. Inside the premises were large and roomy and had three bedrooms and two bathrooms which were ideal for the five of us. The cleaning staff were also very good and brought us a hair dryer straight away. Thank you Access for a pleasant stay. Look forward to next time.
Never got to stay at Camden location because when we arrived were told would have to stay somewhere else due to "technical" problem. Place we were moved to was older building with older interior, and no balcony as seen in Camden online photos. Beds not comfortable, and broken washing machine broke took two days to repair because maintenance won't come on weekends. Elevator button on 2nd floor was broke so couldn't use on way down and given condition afraid to use elevator on way up - luckily only on 2nd floor.

BAIT AND SWITCH
BAIT AND SWITCH - we booked Access Camden but when arrived told "technical" problem so we were moved to Gower St which on company's website rents for 25% less than Camden. Never saw Camden but photos online looked far superior to Gower St (older building and interior finishes and no balconies). Free WiFi limited to 3 devices and beds and couches not comfortable. Main reason to get apt over hotel was washer/dryer after travelling a week in Scotland/England, but door broke on first day (Saturday) with our clothes in it and not fixed until Monday because not an "emergency" - people next to us on the tube may disagree! Dryer never worked so just gave up and spent our time in London hand washing clothes and hang dry. Sent hotels.com an email and they said they would look in to it and "be in touch soon" and "keep us updated" but never heard back as of a week later.

A good base to access London
Access Camden apartment is in a central location with on the spot access to Camden Markets and tube station. Check-in is across London in Edgeware but a free taxi transfer is provided from here to Camden, which was quick and driver very informative about the area. There is a supermarket across the road. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with secure access and a lift. The apartment would benefit from a good deep clean and maintenance as the blinds are broken (no curtains) and one of the sofas is torn but generally is a comfortable, handy base to access London. Free WiFi for two devices, clean laundered bed linen and towels provided, along with iron, ironing board and dryer rack and washing machine. Kitchenette has all expected facilities (cooker, hon, fridge freezer, microwave etc) Please note, during our stay there were only single beds provided, no double bed. We would stay here again and recommend to others with families looking for a central base to stay in London.
the air conditioning did not appear to work and instruction said turn off if light flashes. They flashed constantly. The door to the balcony was locked and could not be used. The unit was a hot box. With very little access to fresh air. If you opened the dishwasher the bottom panel in the door fell off. Basic's such as rubbish bags, tea towel or dish cloth/ liquid were not provided. The instruction to enter the property where incorrect, luckily someone was able to allow us to use their mobile to call the help number. Unit has dirty, floors not cleaned. Noisy pub/ nightclub next door. Very disappointed in the whole experience.
Great location we had a great time, bathrooms could do with a refurb but everything else was great.

Poor customer service & hard to find
We could not reach Hotel Access Camden following instructions listed in the booking confirmation mail, as these said: “To check in, go to 1 Harrowby St. W1H5HB LN. Please contact the property ahead of time to make arrangements for check-in”, the phone number listed being +442077926672.
Before arriving both we and Hotels.com tried to contact Access Camden at the phone number listed, but nobody responded. Also, the address 1 Harrowby street does not exist. Actually, the entrance to the check-in desk is on Landward Court on Brendon Street, as better listed on other booking sites. The closest building on Harrowby street to this entrance is #82.
Since we were unable to check in or contact the hotel when we landed in London, we were forced to find alternative accommodation at a Travelodge hotel for one day.
Next day, when we finally found the hotel (again, following instructions listed on other booking sites), Access Camden charged us for full amount on the argument of "no show". However, we made all efforts to contact Access Camden and check in at the address listed in the reservation page.
Although Hotels.com did follow up and responded to our complaint, Access Camden did not provided any response to our inquiries. I hope this review will finally reach Access Camden and they will provide an explanation to their lack of customer support service.
