Peaceful, comfortable place to stay
We loved the place. We were in a small courtyard with 5 rooms sharing the small pool, but for the first 2 nights we were the only guests which was lovely. The room was large, and each room is unique. If I had 1 criticism of our room it was that the bathroom was very small. The bed was comfortable. We paid for the breakfast every morning which was delicious and very good value. And Aggeliki who helps run the place was delightful - she couldn't have been more helpful. My reasons for not giving it 5 stars are that once others arrived in rooms we kept having power cuts. Hopefully that will have been fixed now. And on the evening we arrived the gentleman who checked us in didn't offer to take my suitcase, even though it was obvious I was struggling, and when we asked for any advice on where we could get something to eat ( as there is NOTHING in Kato Drys) he made no useful suggestions and when we asked if he could call any restaurants for us he didn't help. He suggested Lefkara but everything was closed. We were there in May - I think more restaurants are open in the evenings in the Summer season months. We would stay here again.

Amazing authentic old greek village, very clean and modern rooms! Quiet area with nice views. Very nice to take a walk through the village. Not much amenities near by but still very picturesque village. Very friendly staff.

Very Good, But Needs a Couple of Tweaks
Our room had three overlooked windows, but no net curtains; so we had to keep the main curtains closed for much of the time. AT least one window needs an insect screen so that it can be left open an reduce the use of air conditioning. Otherwise, very good

Cost little place
In the middle of nowhere, but surroundings are beautiful and you are only a short drive from the bigger cities. Amazing hosts and especially the breakfast was awesome. Be aware of all the animals on the property - my friend is allergic to cats and we weren’t aware there’d be any around.

The standards of the accomodation are very high and maintained at all times. Its a small village that gave the authenticity, peace and quiet that was promised. We were warmly welcomed by Angel, who was a fantastic host. She made tasty food, gave information and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spread across 3 seperate sites all within a few meters of each other, this gave us options of using either a sun terace or choice of 2 pools. We hired a car from the airport which gave us freedom to roam the nearby villages and beaches a bit further afield. A car is recommended to enjoy a varied holiday as there are no shops in the village. There was a lovely little coffee shop open in the morning a taverna 6mins walk away and several museums. There were several tavernas in Pano Lefkara (15min drive) that offer some different choices. A fantastic stay in a lovely village left us wanting to return for more!

Lovely apartment, but remote and small pool area!
Lovely spacious apartment with everything you need for self catering in peaceful area, great to sit back and chill out but few down points. Apartments are split over three blocks some with pools and some without. The pool bar is in one block and not open unless we told them what time we would be there. We were in a block of 6 apartments with a pool and lucky enough to have the place to ourselves as terrace around pool is very small and would be cramped if all apartments were full, wasnt particularly clean either. Location is very remote with not much to do, 10 minutes off motorway so car is a must. Hours drive to Ayia Napa or Pathos, half hour to LARNACA or Limosoll and supermarket just as your come off motorway so easy shopping for self catering. There is a taverna at the top of the road 2 minutes walk and good food, I recommend the local Tavas. Take a trip round the corner to Lafkara as very nice village with shops and bars. Met the host on arrival only, but the resident cats were great company.

Palatakia @ Cyprus
Our stay at Hotel Palatakia (village houses) has been an amazing experience. Our personal decision was to stay away from the touristic places to have some quiet atmosphere and freedom of choice. During our 7 days holiday, to our surprise Palatakia at KATO DRYS are extremely clean. All items are working and are of best quality, all employees make you feel at home. If you decide to stay at Palatakia ask for Mrs. Aggeliki, she has a great personality and will make your stay even more pleasant (guarantee). The country itself is very small and surrounded by sea, which means easy access to enjoy the sea and snorkeling. Make your research before arriving and to complement ask directly to the owners of the Hotel for advice of the area, we have visited many of the suggestions given by Palatakia. Finally, we can be sure to always arrange our booking at Palatakia as soon as we are back to Cyprus.

Nice, quiet, modern hotel in medieval village.
It was our lucky choice: we were looking for private and cozy settings and it was very quiet, very spacious, picturesque place, with the unexpected and very useful fireplace. The AC was also top notch Mitsubishi and very quite. And no one (!) ever smoked in the place! Friendly people! Very nice, with local additions and fresh berries, breakfast. Nicely decorated and cozy communal area. The hiking trail starts almost near the house. The whole settings is a restored medieval village, with open beams ceilings, real wood doors and furniture. Less than an hour drive to Nicosia, Limassol, and airport, around half an hour drive to Stavrovouni Monastery, fish village Zygi, Lefkara is a few minutes ride. Nice!

Charming house with good comforts :)
Stayed for two nights at Palatakia in May 2016. The rooms are spread across traditional Cypriot houses in groups of 2 - 4. We stayed in House 2 comprising of four rooms but was all of us for the two nights. The superior studio was large and mixed both traditional and modern styles. Very comfortable bed and a couch, flat screen TV and good wifi in the room. Our room also had access to a plunge pool (different form the one pictured on the listing) and outdoor seating with good lighting. Henri& Alexandria are fantastic hosts who helped with the check-in, breakfast and suggestions for things to do. They have a lot of local knowledge and suggested a beautiful drive to a secluded beach, a nice trail in the hills and Maria's restaurant (Vavatina) for fantastic food. The village in itself if quite small with not many places to shop or eat out beyond 7 -8 pm (nearest place to grab dinner would be in Lefkara), but the house blends perfectly within the village and provides a quiet retreat. The bathroom was slightly small but had a good shower (great water pressure) and hot water throughout. The only recommendation if at all would be to have a slightly bigger bathroom in the rooms, but not a big deal !

Perfect stay
Couldn't fault our stay at this wonderful little place in Kato Drys. The owners, Alexandra and Henri did everything to make our stay perfect. They cooked us an evening meal when we were arriving late for the airport, showed us exactly where to go on maps and offered recommendations for restaurants/walking trials. We stayed in the suite which has a lovely view from the balcony, wonderfully decorated in a modern style that is sensitive to the old building. I would recommend a hire car if your doing Cyprus, especially when staying in a mountain village like Kato Drys, the beaches are 15 mins drive with Larnaca and Limassol easily 30 mins drive.

Totally gorgeous boutique hotel in pretty village
Palatakia surpassed expectation. The room was chic, beautiful and extremely comfortable, breakfast plentiful and delicious, the staff so friendly and the village and surrounding countryside very pretty. It's quite newly established so everything is very smart and stylish, but has lots of character. We can't wait to go back, hopefully when it's warm enough to swim in the little pool.

A nice retreat on the mountainside.
It's a lovely quiet place in the sleepy village of Kato Drys set on the mountainside, not too far travelling to places like Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. It's a short distance (5 miles approx) from the nearest supermarket based in Skarinou and the A1 motorway linking Kato Drys via Skarinou to all the major places on the island. Getting there to Kato Drys by car isn't an issue and the signs were well posted for Kato Drys and Palatakia Village Homes.

Quiet location, fantastic hosts, great surrounding
Just returned from first ever trip to Cyprus and stayed at Palatakia which was fantastic. The hosts Alexandria and Henri, where very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The accommodation was excellent, we had a very nice double room with all mod cons and and pool right outside. Air con was great as weather in October was superb. Breakfast was served by Andreas every morning and ranged from fresh fruit, ham, bread, cheese lots of locally made jams or if you prefer egg and bacon plus toast etc and freshly made orange juice, coffee, tea etc. Although it is not in a built up tourist area and is just 35 mins from Larnaca airport it is easy to get around everywhere, so a car is really essential. There is a good supermarket not more than an 10 minute drive away with everything you will need. The buildings themselves have been renovated to a very high standard and look amazing with very atmospheric blue lighting against white internal walls at night. The pool also is lit up at night was is superb as well. The village where we stayed was small but a 10 minute drive would bring you to Lefkara where you could eat in a couple of restaurants. You could also eat at Palatakia as well, as a new meal for the day was displayed everyday outside your room. Simply let them know you want to eat by mid day. The food was very good as well. You can also get a good glass of wine and local Keo beer at Palatakia.

An October week's holiday in Cyprus
We wished to visit Cyprus for an interesting quick break with some sunshine, but away from buzzing resorts and excessive heat. We looked online for suitable accomodation and chose Palatakia Village Houses in the hillside village of Kato Drys near Larnaca. We were not disappointed. Our Room 4 was ideal, at first floor level, fully self contained, and accessed from a delightful small courtyard with a swimming pool. Located in the hills so fresher than the coast. We particularly liked the Secret Paradise beach with sunbeds, shades, beer & sandwiches. The taverna in Vavatsinia was excellent for lunch. There was no general shop in Kato Drys but neighbouring villages had some facilities, there was a good supermarket (and a Mcdonald's) at the exit from B1 junction 13.

Great renovation of traditional village houses
The owners were so helpful and made our stay with a young baby a breeze, the rooms are immaculate and the village so peaceful for morning walks. My only regret was not finding the local jam shop open - trying them at breakfast was a great addition. Andreas could not be more helpful - everything was so good we have sent our parents for a short break. Will be back!

The best thing about Palatakia, is Andreas the manager. Kind, thoughtful, efficient, polite Gentleman, and an excellent cook. I recommend his cooking instead of the restaurant in the village. First impressions of our apartment was it looked fabulous, with all the lights and decor. But actually living in it for ten days was hard. The toilet is in the bedroom. No privacy, just a glass door separating. The courtyard is tiny. Would be fine for just one or two dwellings, but they have crammed four apartments in there. "Packed in like sardines" is an English expression. We were unable to sit outside and eat in the evenings; We always had people in our faces. The pool should be called a Dip Pool, certainly not a swimming pool; two strokes and I hit the other side. Three people around it, and the courtyard was full, even for sun bathing.

Perfect, peaceful getaway
If you're looking for your average hotel stay this isn't for you. Palatakia was a beautiful and peaceful break from the norm with delightful apartments surrounding a courtyard which had a small pool. You had the best of all worlds whether you opted to make your own meals, eat out or partake of the cuisine offered at the 'village'. Lovely people, lovely place. We'll be heading back there next time we go to Cyprus.
