Hideaway Haven by the Lake is a cozy suite that offers a unique blend of comfort and serenity. Nestled in the heart of Lake Cowichan, guests enjoy picturesque views and immediate access to outdoor activities. The suite is thoughtfully furnished, and special touches like a welcome fruit bowl and a special gift for stays over three nights. We're family and pet-friendly, and our commitment to conscientious hosting ensures a memorable stay for everyone.
The space
Nestled in the heart of Lake Cowichan and just one minute from the lake itself, our guest suite offers a cozy, welcoming retreat. Thoughtfully maintained and in excellent condition, the suite provides comfort and charm for your stay.

Please note that our family of four—two young children and a friendly golden retriever—lives upstairs. While we take great care in our cleaning practices, guests with dog allergies should be mindful that the entryway is shared. This is a warm, lived-in home that reflects the joy and energy of family life.

The suite spans the entire basement level, offering a spacious and private environment. The bedroom features a queen-sized bed, side tables, and a large dresser. The living room includes ample seating with a theater-style couch (complete with cup holders), a hide-a-bed couch, an additional queen-sized bed in the bedroom, and a single cot. Upon request, we can also provide a queen-sized air mattress, allowing us to comfortably accommodate up to six guests.

The highlight of your stay? Private access to your very own sauna and hot tub—perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. We look forward to hosting you and wish you a truly enjoyable stay!
Guest access
Upon arrival, you will have a parking spot closest to the door. Not directly in front of the covered area. Make sure you are facing the front door. Likely on the right side of my green truck. A lockbox with your key is at the front door. If you have not received your combination to retrieve keys, please private message me.

Upon arrival, you will retrieve your keys from the lock box. Likely the front door and suite will be unlocked. Let yourself into the front door. There is a set up stairs up to our dwelling. The door directly in front of you with the welcome sign is your suite. Refrain from entering the door on the right as that is my counseling office.

Bear Safety:
We’re located in beautiful bear country, and sightings of bears are common. To protect both your vehicle and our local wildlife, we kindly ask that you leave no food or beverages inside your vehicle. Bears are naturally curious creatures, and while these encounters are remarkable, we cannot assume liability for any damage caused by bears attempting to access vehicles. Your care and attention to this matter greatly support both your safety and wildlife preservation.

Occupancy Details
We believe 4 people can fit comfortably here. You are welcome to bring up to 6 guests. It would make for a tight squeeze, but it’s manageable if your group is looking to save money. We want you to feel informed so you can make the best decision for your stay.

Ant Notice (Updated April 3rd, 2025):
With warmer weather, ants are becoming active. We are proactively addressing this with professional exterminators and have an ongoing year-round prevention plan. Your comfort and peace of mind are paramount; traps have been discreetly placed in the suite. While they are non-toxic and considered safe for all, we will ensure they are placed out of reach if young children or pets are present. If you do spot any ants during your stay, please inform us immediately so we can promptly address it. Your feedback helps us maintain the highest standards for your stay.

Parking Information:
Each booking includes one designated parking space. If you anticipate needing additional parking, please contact us beforehand to check availability, as our space is limited.

Door Security:
Please firmly close both the suite door and front door to ensure they latch securely. This practice helps maintain your security and the comfort of all our guests.

Basement Temperature:
Please be aware that the basement suite may feel cooler, as the thermostat is located upstairs. The furnace operates continuously and may produce a gentle humming sound. If you find the temperature uncomfortable, please text us, and we will happily adjust it to enhance your comfort.

Hot Tub Guidelines:
- Before Use: Kindly shower before entering the hot tub to maintain cleanliness and protect its filtration system. For safety, the hot tub is available exclusively to guests aged 18 and older. We routinely balance the hot tub chemicals daily, but if you'd prefer a complete water exchange and clean, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.
- How to Use: To unlock, simply hold the lock symbol until it activates, then press the bubble button to start. The temperature is preset for optimal comfort, and we ask that you do not adjust the heating settings.

Sauna Usage:
Detailed sauna instructions can be found inside the sauna beneath the control panel, with additional guidelines provided in your welcome packet. For your safety and enjoyment, sauna access is limited to guests 18 and older. If you have any questions or require assistance, we’re here to help!

Weights and Outdoor Gym:
Our outdoor gym facilities are available for your enjoyment. Please note, for your safety and liability purposes, guests must be 18 years or older and sign a liability waiver before using the weights. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

In Case of Malfunction:
If the hot tub starts beeping or experiences any interruptions, we invite you to contact us immediately via text. We pride ourselves on maintaining all amenities in optimal condition and perform regular checks to ensure everything is functioning properly. However, please understand that occasional repairs or maintenance may be necessary. While we strive to provide all amenities as advertised, unforeseen circumstances may arise. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in these matters. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities.
