Great hotel so convenient for exploring the town. Facilities a bit basic but made up for by friendliness and help of the staff and the history of the building is unbelievable.
The Hotel is a converted mansion located in the historic heart of La Orotava, with a handful of large room (ours had a beamed ceiling) located on the first floor, so be prepared to haul cases up steep steps. The ground-floor is occupied by a large courtyard and the dining room of the well-known restaurant, "Sabor Canario".
Our room was reasonably spacious and, although the bathroom was small, it was adequate for a short stay. Facilities included a large TV and reasonable free Wi-Fi.
Downsides were: (1) lack of Reception staff; (2) difficult to park.

Restaurant with rooms
The building is 16 century and lovely. The staff are very nice. The main problem is that the restaurant and bar close at 21.45 every night and is closed all Sunday. As there is no tea/coffee in the room you are stuck for any refreshment especially if a sandstorm happens on a Sunday when it was dangerous to go out due to flying roof tiles and when we did venture out due to thirst and hunger most of the cafés, bars and restaurants were closed due to the weather. I would have expected the owners to at least check we were ok. There is absolutely no soundproofing between rooms so ear plugs are essential.
I love the rustic style of the all place, the location and the staff.
The breakfast wasn't very exciting though, lots of biscuits wrapped in plastic.

Rustic and Limited, but Charming
One of the oldest buildings in the city. Inconveniant for car access--nowhere to even temporarily park while unloading and checking in! Difficult to see signage too. Good restaurant and breakfast. However, very small and often invisible staff. No one *at all* available on a Sunday night for ice, internet questions, the need to check out early the next day..Frustrating, as otherwise it's a lovely historic site with fascinating and generally comfortable room details. Rural, indeed.
The hotel is a museum itself with the story of the the complex dated back some 500 years. The lady who runs the hotel is part of the family who bought the property about 60 years ago. Clean and tastefully decorated room with a comfy and clean bed. I really love the breakfast - basic food you need and the setting - which is in an old kitchen. It reminds me of my grandparents house. Staff are super nice and passionate. Will certainly come back if I have a chance to return to Tenerife.
Stunning property with beautiful historical details thoughtfully put together set in the very centre of enchanted town, good restaurant and bar on site, very nice staff, the only tiny issue we had was that we just could not find cafe early in the morning and late in the evening, we really needed our coffee fix and could not find coffee shops in any of the main streets and squares, i think a kettle for use to all guests would be a good idea if you wanted tea and coffee outside of opening hours of the restaurant
Had a great night's start in a lovely hotel. It was like starting in a museum as we were surrounded by history. We even had a fresco on one of our bedroom walls that was over 200 years old.
